Dotted Bow and Graphic Squares

Hello and good afternoon! Sorry for the lack of updates, been rather busy with life for the past few days, so haven't really the time to blog or to paint my nails. But I do have two manis done up for Tip Top South Africa's nail art competition. You know, during the second week, I've realised I misunderstood the competition. It's going to be long one. Haha that's pretty challenging. I'm pretty sure everyone can still join in though missed out a few sections or themes. Perhaps I'd explain here.

The competition goes like this, there will be Four Sections. And in each sections there will be Four Different Themes. One Theme per week. So currently its Section 1 - Back to basics, using only Black, White and Silver polish. We're at week 4 already. The theme for week 1 was French Chic Rock which you can see my attempt here. And I will be showing you week 2 and week 3 attempts in this post. Do note: This competition is opened internationally. South African participants are required to use only Tip Top South Africa nail polishes, whereas international participants may use any brands. Head over to Tip Top South Africa Facebook page for information regarding week 4.

Week 2 - Let's get Dotty!
Description: Any kind of dots and spots, rock that nail art creativity with a beautiful nail art manicure!

For week 2's theme, I wanted to portray a contrast between spacing of dots. I've also been aching to attempt a manicure which have really small and sparse spacing in the background. Then I had the idea of a wrapping paper topped with a bow for this manicure.

Haha, And because when I did this manicure, Valentine's day was approaching. I decided to add a dotted heart embellishment at the center of the bow. Not sure if you can tell that I do love this method. Never fail to remind me of Oreo Cookies. Lol!

Week 3 - Squares and Stripes
Description: Black, White and Silver Squares and Stripes, rock that nail art creativity with a beautiful nail art manicure!

When I saw the theme for week 3's theme, I was like "Alright! Something I'd really love to do. Geometries!". So I set out to attempt skittle manicures since those were the ones I've been in love with lately, but haven't obtain satisfying results. There is just something I'm not grasping about it, yet. Haha! I am determined to grasp that missing thingy.

Playing with the theme, I sought to incorporate stripes into the squares and in one of my nails, outside the squares. Squares were all placed to be in random motion. I went with the name Graphic Squares, because I had white squares with black outlines and they reminded of graphic things or cartoons. A fitting name, I hope. Haha!!

What I liked most about this mani was the striped squares. Haha! I had fun doing those. I am almost there, I guess. Few more tries, perhaps I'd be able to understand skittlettes better by then. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Marta from ChitChatNails for the awesome pointers, advices and experiences she has shared with me regarding attempting nail designs/skittlettes designs. Thank you once again!

So that is it for today's post. Hope you've find them interesting despite using only 3 colours. For the following sections, I'd post them up in summarized form haha. I think that'd be easier though number of pictures will be reduced. Since there's going to be about 4 different designs in a post. Only for section 1 will be in separate posts. Hahaha!! See y'all in next post!

    1. Haha!! Thank you! Second one is my favourite too! But the first one isn't that time consuming. I got it done pretty fast about an hour tops. The second one is though. It was the brainstorming part which ate most of my time. Lol!!

  2. I like the 1st one very much (and I saw the heart right away ^.~ nice touch). It's cute but not over the top, wearable on V-day or any other days. You're also very good with geometries (looks like you've paid attention in math classes hihi). The whole black & white theme is awsome, I'm in love with those colors lately ;)

    1. Thank you!! So glad you find it wearable on daily basis. I was sort of aiming for that too. Oh, nahhh my maths is horrible. Though I did enjoy the geometries part. But that was so long ago. My brain has rusted ever since. Hahaha!! For a colour lover person, I found really challenging attempting solely black white and silver colours. But definitely worth it. Makes me dig deeper for ideas and inspirations.
