China Glaze Swatches & Review

Hey everyone ♥ So I've recently (not really, few months ago) added 3 more China Glaze into my collection. They are not new nor latest, hahahaha! They are pricey here, so I will always take a long time to consider /decide before buying any colours. Oh be warned! This is an unexpected lengthy post ;)

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Nail Polishes
Ahem, presenting the latest trio!

China Glaze Toe-tally Textured

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Toe-Tally Textured

China Glaze Toe-tally Textured is from their Summer Texture Collection 2013, which I'm sure you would have known about them earlier this year. When I first saw the swatches around the blogging communities, my reaction was 'mehh'. Then, Marta of Chit Chat Nails swatched them and all of a sudden, I am in love with this shade.

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Toe-Tally Textured

Toe-tally Textured is a bright sunny orange which I think is absolutely ideal for summer (or all year round! ;)) I love how saturated the orange is when on nails, I'm not sure if it shows in the photos.. On nails, this shade appears more vivid and saturated compared to its milky creme bright orange appearance in bottle.

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Toe-Tally Textured

Application wise is tricky. Putting on too much might sabotage the texture effect, so I advise you to spread thinly and evenly for a much desirable outcome. Also, in my opinion, I do find them rather rough.. so.. wear at own risk ;) In above pictures, are two thin coats of China Glaze Toe-tally Textured.

China Glaze Winter Holly

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Winter Holly

Ahh, China Glaze Winter Holly - you're finally mine! *hugs bottle* This is polish is from their Holiday Joy Collection 2012. This green gem right here, is the perfect shade and glitter that defines Christmas Tree to me. Hahaha! So, you can totally expect me to be using this for Christmas themed nail art this year ;) Provided that I didn't get idea blocks all of a sudden... hahahaha!

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Winter Holly

China Glaze Winter Holly is a clear base micro fine glitter polish. Consists mostly of green and deep green glitters together with very tiny holographic glitters.

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Winter Holly

In my pictures shows China Glaze Winter Holly three thin coats on its own. First coat is 'sheer' but glitters in Winter Holly are dense and builds up very nicely reaching opacity on third coat. In the directly above picture, shows China Glaze Winter Holly three thin coats on its own without topcoat. You can see it has a very nice matte finish, kinda resembles sandy glitters. Plus it feels smoother than Toe-Tally Textured.

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Winter Holly

As much as I appreciate the texture feeling this polish has, I really loved the darker shade gloss topcoat brings to Winter Holly. So I chose I topcoat that doesn't smooth glitters, and top over it. Right there, the perfect Christmas tree colour I've envisioned and love! Hahaha, besides I'm really starting to love how green looks on me. Oh! I almost forgot, application wise this performed really well. Easy and fuss free. And despite being three coats + top coat, they appeared almost flat on my nails. That's a huge plus to me. I don't like when my nails are bulky with layers of nail polish on. So if you don't already have China Glaze Winter Holly in your collection and you are a fan of green, this is totally a unique one to have! ;)

China Glaze Water You Waiting For

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Water You Waiting For

Hahaha! I found this colour while snooping around the polish counter for colours to add into my collection. When I saw the bottle and the glitters in it, I knew I found another spectacular blue to have in my stash! Curious of its name, I looked down and saw 'Water You Waiting For' - that was enough. This came home with me. XD

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Water You Waiting For

I vividly recalled a friend swatched this colour, Vicky from The Nail Artiste. I also remembered looking at the colour and didn't think much of it though, its weird that I remembered the name so well (fate? lol). Anyway, shame on me! I must have been blind for not noticing just how gorgeous this polish is! Stumbling upon this polish is like finding a hidden gem.

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Water You Waiting For

From the Cirque du Soleil, Worlds Away Collection; China Glaze Water You Waiting For is a stunning glitter packed polish. Consisting of dark periwinkle blue glitters and sea green glitters with a slightly tinted blue base. Sadly, as much as I love the mixes and depth this polish offers, I do not fancy the application process. Before I proceed further, please note that these views are based on the bottle I bought so it is possible that I got a bad bottle as I did notice the brush felt really awkward and funky. If only I swatched this earlier..maybe I could consider requesting for an exchange. Too bad for me. Moving on, I did find it hard to get an even spread on each nails. Unlike Winter Holly, this polish has a tendency to clump up making the tips of my nails rather bulky, I suppose its most noticeable on my index finger. And like Winter Holly, this too has a matte-like finish (refer above picture, without topcoat) and glitters being glitter, they are gritty. But I'm happy to say China Glaze Water You Waiting For is a two coater.

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Water You Waiting For

However, I do not appreciate its natural matte-like finish so I applied a topcoat and loved it more! Now it has that nice dark shadow depth that I saw and love from the looks of the bottle! :) With results like that, the fussy application was worth it (yet removal is unfortunately another torture, hahaha!).

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Water You Waiting For & China Glaze Fairy Dust

Do you see the sparkles? Another reason why I got this bottle of polish is so I could layer China Glaze Fairy Dust over. I have been lemming over scattered holographic polishes, particularly blue ones like piCture pOlish Cosmos, piCture pOlish Freya's Cat, and recently seen Zoya Dream.

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Water You Waiting For & China Glaze Fairy Dust

Though the sparkles didn't appear much in camera, in person.. its crazy sparkling! Absolutely eye-catching in every light angles! Their comb sure makes me a proud owner of these two polishes! If you do not have China Glaze Fairy Dust, Essence Space Queen is a great alternative. Essence Space Queen's holographic glitters are bigger, thus catches the light more compared to CG Fairy Dust.

Lacqueerisa: China Glaze Water You Waiting For & China Glaze Fairy Dust

To give justice to CG Fairy Dust, here's a macro-blurred out look so you can see just how sparkly it is! *Sigh* Results like these, makes me wish Christmas last longer than a day! So I can keep rocking all these holiday-ish sparkles! ♥.♥

While I'm still complaining (I don't think the complain will stop though) just how tedious it is to clean up glitters, here's a little sharing from me, which I think might be useful.

What's that? Well, a sharp end stick with a litte bit of cotton. Hahaha! I was trying to clean up the glitters from my cuticles with brush, but realised the bristles were too soft to push the glitters out of the way. So I resort to old-school method and it certainly is more successful.

And yeap. This concludes my post for today! I am actually a day late, this was suppose to be up yesterday, but it took me longer than expected to type all these. Hahahaha!! My Mum says I'm very 'cheong-hei' (cantonese dialect) - which means long winded. I don't think I can disagree I can't disagree, my siblings can testify to this although I'm not so sure if my friends can, some could though by small margin. I have noticed that (my cheong-hei-ness) a lot lately, too. Sometimes I try to shorten them, since they are repetitive and rather unnecessary (like what I just did) yet I can't seem to change it.. Hahaha! Since being long-winded means beating round the bush, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see it as taking you round the area in hopes to give you full exposure. Hahaha! Don't know how you put up with me, but thank you so much for doing so! XD

  1. LOL I love your little addition on the end of being "long winded". Trust me you're not!! I appreciate when bloggers give honest & thorough reviews, brand new np release or not! Bc not everyone has the latest release yet either.

I personally loved ChG Water You Waiting For (strange I say that yet never use it...hummm must change that asap!), but my bottle def had no brush issues :( hopefully you can get it replaced!! That green ChG is to die for! I'm adding it to my lems for sure!! I'm still passing on almost ALL textures atm. (again, I say THAT, but I actually just purchased one yesyerday, sheese!) But seriously, for the most part I'm still not sold on the txture trend. Love the shade of it though, it would make some kick a$$ halloween nail art ;)

Hehe nice swatches!! I love water you waiting for, especially with fairy dust, you can never have enough sparkle!! Don't worry about your "cheong hei"ness I'm exactly the same haha, it's just wanting to get every detail possible there is the thing for me. I like reading your details, cause im a detail oriented person. It gives more to read, and if its not someone's thing they can stroll past!! :)

  4. The swatches are fantastic! I don't think it was a long post considering I should've done three posts at your place! So you manage very well to summary 3 posts in one!

  5. xD I'm long-winded too. We can't help it if we have so many worthwhile things to say. xD

Also, I super want China Glaze Winter Holly . I am already picturing Christmas trees too. xD

Nothing wrong with being long-winded hehe. :D Love the two glitters you showed! They are both really pretty colors and oh so sparkly! :)

  7. Toe-tally Texture haha what a cool name. Well, the color is pretty but I think I'd prefer this as a normal polish just because I'm quite boring when it comes to finishes xD Usually I'd think of summer as well but because you're introducing this in October this color reminds me of pumpkin =) I'm sure it'd be great for Halloween designs.

Holly Winter is indeed perfect for Xmas. The more I look at it the more I miss Xmas. hehe You got me excited already for the nail design you're going to do with this beauty :D Oh, and I prefer the top coated version as well hihi

Water you waiting for and Fairy Dust are meant to be. OMG all these glitter makes my eyes sparkles as well (like in animes when the characters have eyes almost huge as their heads with stars and whatnot in it hahaha)

Now that I've saw them together I think I could never buy Water you waiting for without buying fairy dust as well (I still don't own fairy dust >///< shame on me).

Oh, I just wondered, how much do China Glaze polishes cost over there? In Germany I mostly buy them online, we only have 1 store that sells them for 10€, but online they're 6-8€.

And you know whaaat, I don't mind your cheong-hei-ness at all! I really enjoy reading your long texts =)

  8. *Phew!* That's a huge relief! Haha!! Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I always try to cover as much as I can. And I appreciate that from bloggers too! So I hope to be as helpful for my readers as well :D Hahaha! I'm almost 100% late on latest release, lols! I love waiting for discount XD (but its not always successful, I get too impatient at times too hahaha!!)

Hahah yesss hurry and use it asap! Although I fully understand the 'lack of occasion' to wear them. Oh that's great that yours is in good condition. Perhaps its a little hit-miss situation? Nah, its not too bad, still manageable so I'll be letting this pass. Hehe, yeap! Winter Holly is stunning! Definitely one I'd recommend nail polish lovers to have it ;D Yay! Glad to hear you're adding that in your list, its certainly worth it! :)

Oh, I can understand that. Texture are mostly 50-50 sort of thingy. I do like them since they are something I can rock whenever I'm in a rush (no need to worry much about bubblings xD) But I wouldn't like it if they keep getting caught with clothes or so. This may be my first and last solid colour texture...might be adding in black or white but not too sure about that yet. However, I'm sure in love with glitter textures! I simply love how they make glitters sparkles all the more! XD

  9. Hahaha, thank you!! Yes yes!! Never enough sparkles! Especially pretty combinations like these two! :D Yeap, I am on the same page as ya! I used to refrain myself during some of the starting days, but gradually I yak on more since I couldn't contained them. Plus, I figured people could just stroll pass and I totally don't mind XD So, win-win situation XD Lols!

  10. Hehe, I'm glad you love it too! Its got tons of glitters, and really dense and packed! Makes the polish totally worth buying :D

  11. Aw, thank you Nati! I kinda have the habit to showcase more than 1. Eh, really? That's great to know! Thank you, again ♥ I initially wanted them to be more summarized, but it was too difficult since I ended up going on and on and on.. :P

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah it is! I'm glad you've taken a liking too ^.^

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hahaha! High 5!! xD That's true! We would feel stingy if we kept some information just to ourselves XD Plus its only fair that readers get to know our honest-est opinion regarding the product/polish ^.^

Haha!! I'm super glad you love it as well! Definitely one of the must have colours for Christmas! And I can't wait for Christmas already! X3

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hehe, that's great! Now I can keep yakking without much worries, of course still proof-reading hopefully I'm not repeating myself too often XD Haha!! I'm glad you love them, Yun! Thank you! Ahh, they sure makes me wish I have more reasons to wear them often :D

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hahaha! Yeah, I toe-tally love the name! So fun! That's true, I am also seeing this as a perfect pumpkin and halloween inspired colours! I might just use it for pumpkins XD Hahaha!!

Yeah, I think the topcoat version has more depth and makes the mixture a lot more interesting. Oh I love the clear base, makes it versatile for layering over other colours for different outcomes. The idea is still vague now, I hope I'd be able to come up with something worthwhile! :)

Ahh, this... I couldn't agree more! I'm feeling on cloud-9 having both of them! XD Also, I feel like Fairy Dust-ing every thing! Lol!! Strange, although you describe anime characters, I'm actually picturing 'Abu' from Aladdin Disney! - how his eyes were gleaming with sparkles when he saw the treasure and that ruby! XD

From direct China Glaze stores (Isetan KLCC or Isetan One Utama) they are priced about MYR 42 - MYR 48. If there are discounts, MYR 23 - MYR 30 (or till MYR 48) so usually I will wait till there are offers or discounts to buy them. If from other area like Cubix, its about MYR 28. I've never bought CG from Cubix though. I have no idea what collection is in stock there. And my habit to take a long time to decide makes it inconvenient to stare at polishes through 'windows..' I don't buy online (I prefer seeing colours in person before deciding), so I'm not sure what online prices are. (I assume cheaper though.. lols)

Hahahah! I am so happy to hear everyone is okay with it! :D That's a huge relief off my shoulder! Thank you very much! ♥

  16. So pretty! Especially Winter Holly, that one makes me think of a Christmas tree :D
And being long-winded isn't a bad thing, I think. It makes your posts fun to read, they always sound very enthusiastic :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hehe, thank you very much! Haha!! You can totally expect me using that for a Christmas tree design -- I thought of Christmas tree too!! Perfffecct!!

Awww, thank youuuuu! ♥ I hope it wasn't overly enthusiastic XD And I'm super happy to know they were fun to read! That made my day :D

  18. I've got Toe-tally Textured as well and I loveee it hehe. But Winter Holly man.. it's so mossy and lovely looking, me thinks I need to get myself a bottle :p And. And. I guess you kept the best for the last, huh? Water You Waiting For is STUNNING with the top coat <3

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hahaha!! yeaps! XD You totally see through me :P Partially also because I love blue so much, wanted to wear it a little longer (and layering with Fairy Dust was the most exciting part!). I'm glad to hear you're loving them as well! Oh oh!! I just saw recently some new swatches of upcoming China Glaze HoliGlaze, This Is Tree-mendous seems really beautiful too. I don't think one needs them both, it might be useful to compare both Winter Holly and This Is Tree-mendous before making purchases. Hehe, though after seeing the swatches of the new one I don't regret getting Winter Holly :D

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ohh, thanks for the heads up! Just googled for a swatch and yes it sure it lovely though I agree, Winter Holly is slightly up a notch :p You made a GREAT choice picking it up xx

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hehe no problem! Yeah, I thought the same too when I saw the swatches, actually a huge relief. I thought I was going to regret buying so 'soon' lols!! XD Glad I didn't hehehe ♥
