Happy Chinese New Year!

Hey guys! I'm kind of squeezing this post here just before I have a dear friend to guest post later on. Hehe. Phew! We're actually in the 4th day of CNY and I haven't been able to get anything posted until now! I was hoping to get this up on the first day, but with all the visitations and reunions my energy was completely drained. I'm not complaining though, I had a fun time catching up and spending time with families and loved ones! ^.^ Hope you don't mind :) I guess it can't be helped that I didn't manage to post any CNY inspired nail art before the festival set in. But it goes on for 15 days.. so I still have time to squeeze in maybe one more nail art before the celebration is over.

Lacqueerisa: Peonies Nails
I wasn't inspired to do nail art for CNY last year, so I was somehow determined to at least have something for this year's CNY. And having major ideas blocks since the beginning of the year wasn't helping at all. But I picked a few elements that I want to incorporate on my nails and keep working from there.

Lacqueerisa: Peonies Nails

Among the elements that I wanted were: peonies, bright colours and white-ish background. To tell you the truth, the peonies idea actually scares me a little. I would have dislike to go too much into details because that would take so much of my time and during the eve of Chinese New Year, I barely have the time to get them done. So I needed something that could be quick yet satisfying. Inspired by Anhy's Roses, I decided to attempt a similar style with the peonies. I'm not too sure how I to describe the kind of approach I was going for, kinda like arty and floaty? Hence, the bright colours as background :)

Lacqueerisa: Peonies Nails

So there you go. My colourful and bright CNY inspired nails. Admittedly not the best, but hopefully its at least something bright for the occasion. :) I was even at lost of what to call this look. Decided to keep it simple as I was literally chanting peonies, peonies, peonies while doing this nail art. Lol!

To my readers who are celebrating Chinese New Year, wish you all a wonderful and prosperous Chinese New Year and may you flourish abundantly in the days ahead! :)

  6. You did an amazing job and do not worry, quality is what counts and I always love the quality of your nail designs and blog in general. It doesn't matter when or how much you blog, makes me even more excited to see a new art of yours ^.~
At first I was a bit confused because I'd expect, you know..the typical colors for CNY (red/ gold/ probably white) but giving it a second thought I think it fits perfectly! In vietnamese the new year is sometimes called Xuan(=spring) as well or people say "xuan den" which means "spring is coming". And what could be a better design for spring then beautiful flowers. The peonies look great, so please forgive me when I say that I'm even more fascinated by your background >_< The white, yellow and blue makes me looking forward to spring and the way you did it, is somehow really eye-catching to me <3 LOL
Oh and of course HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I'm looking forward to your wonderful nail arts in 2014 as well ^-^

  12. Aww, thank you so much, Anhy! :') Meant a lot to me. Oh the colours! I feared the paragraphs were getting very wordy so I skipped out on explanation on colours. Well, Chinese culture is vibrant, especially if you see the architectures and the many colours they used to paint them. But I chose a few bright ones that are more commonly use (I think). Peonies, because its prominently used as decorative motifs for Chinese traditional apparels. By the wayyyy CNY is also Spring too!! :D It's 'Chun Tian' -- so amazing our culture shares a lot of similarities :D No worries! You won't get any arguments from me, I love the background a lot too! hahaha I think its the 'trump' card of this nail art :P

Hehehe, what can I say? I blame human's curiosities XD Yeah, its not too dark though, bearable level. I like the conversations and how the artist links one event to another. Although in tags it was categorised as "fantasy", I felt it's somewhat realistic too. Considering the possibilities of genetic mutation. AWW BUT I wouldn't want to live to see that day :l
