Happy Mother's Day: Carnations For Mum!

Hey everyone! Things have been quiet around here lately. I apologise. I do have a few (late) manis to show in the coming days. But today is a special day, so I want to post on time! :)

Today marks the day where most of us celebrates Mother's day! A joyous occasion indeed; for us to remember and reminisce on how much love our Mother has poured out to us over the years. So, in conjunction of today's occasion, I've made a simple nail art to celebrate the some of the many similarities we shared.

Lacqueerisa: Carnations For Mum

Every Mother's day, it is a tradition that my church gifts each Mothers with carnation flowers. I have often pondered why specifically this flower and questioned my Mum about it when I was young. To which she answered that she wasn't sure either. But we both agreed on the fact that this flower is lovely and we do love it's fragrance.

Lacqueerisa: Carnations For Mum

Growing up, Mum and I shared a lot in common. Not just in looks, but also in taste buds. As to not overwhelm the mani, I've kept to a few simple flavours in life that we shared. Depicted on index finger, is a cup (mug) of coffee. We love coffee. Haha~! In Malaysian terms, we're Coffee-kaki. It's sort of like Coffee-partners-in-crime kinda thing. Hahaha! XD However, we're not coffee experts. To us, a good cup of coffee means rich in taste and not so sweet. Quite simple, no? :P

Lacqueerisa: Carnations For Mum

On the ring finger, a simple 'M' monogram to represent 'Mother'. Three chocolate hearts for the love of bitter chocolates. The bitter it is, the better it taste. I guess it's rather obvious we don't like to consume stuffs that are too sweet. Besides, dark chocolates are healthier too :P Haahaha! Oh by the way, raise your hand if you see mango! No? Aww, surely you can't miss that cheerful colour on the background? Well, the other flavour we share in common is the love for mango. Mango ice-cream, mango desserts, mango cake, mango pudding, mango... everything. Even the fruit itself is so juicy and tasty. We like it sweet and we like it sour-ish too. Natural sweetness in fruits are always welcome. As long as it's not excessively added sugar.

Lacqueerisa: Carnations For Mum

There have been many occasions where my Mum and I ended up calling the same stuffs off the menus. It's all good though. Sometimes, we get to each call a different flavour if there happens to be two that we want to try. Hahaha!! And having someone so close to me like Mum sharing so much in common with me, I really couldn't ask for a better companion in life. :) So here's a quick thank you:

Thank You, Mum.
For having such great tastes.
And because I'm somewhat your clone, I have great tastes too ;D
Happy Mother's Day! ^.^

....and Happy Mother's Day to all you Mothers out there! Have a wonderful time!

  1. Ohhh! This is SO SWEAT!!!)) Honey, you did an amazing work! Congrats to your Mum! And this cup of coffee: it's just a masterpiece! Shame on me but I've never tried mango :))) It's not very popular in Russia and usually I look at it in the market: "Mmmmmm...buy or not..." - and go away))) Maybe it's time to finally try it)).

Aww aww aww!! This is so adorable!! I love this look!! It's so artsy and gorgeous, the coffee is so cute, I adore the background and the flowers are lovely :) I <3 mango pudding too; Mothers day is on a different day in the UK but in my church they made heart-shaped shortbread for all the mothers, and in the sunday school they were making tulip shaped cards so I went ahead and joined them ;) But really I love this look, it's painted so well and it's just lovely :)

  4. hihi Coffee-kaki..I like that ^___^
Oh my gosh, you have improved sooo much! I mean, I was always a huge fan of yours but this one *^* It's one of your best, seriously! Love the coffee mug so much <3 Kyaaa~
I didn't buy my mother anything for mother's day nor did we do something special since we had to work. I think mother's day is great to celebrate what moms been doing for their children and to honor that. On the other hand I don't like the feeling that I "have to" buy or do something for my mom just because the mass is saying so. I rather surprise my mother with little gifts throughout the year. x3

On another topic, I'm SO IN LOVE with your new nail shape o(>///<)o
I think it looks great on you, especially now that your nails have grown longer. They appear longer as well thanks to the shape. *thumbs up* hihi
Ah and I wanted to tell you that I've started watching Hunter x Hunter. You're the first to recommend me that anime hihi Really like it so far. Gosh so much to tell you. I'll write you an email or so haha Have a nice week sweetheart <3

Oh wow, what a special and meaningful way to honor your mom for Mother's Day! I love the different things you depicted that remind you of your relationship with your mom: coffee, carnations, chocolate, and mangos. :) Really well done and so unique! :D

  11. Whoa, those activities sounds fun! I love shortbreads! Okay I know, for Mums only, but I'm drooling just hearing about it! Surely, there must be some leftovers? XD Ohh ohh!! High-5! I especially love them chilled too! Hmm, I'm not sure what the Sunday School did in my Church since I'm out of touch with it now.. (i feel old -_-lll).

Haha~! Thank you so much!! The background actually did turn out better than I expected and the coffee too. My favourites from this artwork. Hehe! So happy to hear you love them as well ^.^

  12. Thank youuu~! That's such a wonderful compliment! Actually I had no idea what kind of style I was going for. But eventually it moved in this direction as I set my mind to paint the coffee mug. Somehow I was reminded of still life paintings. I guess, that sets the style ^.^

  13. Awh, thank you soooo much! It's my favourite too, the coffee mug. It's not hard to achieve it. Just be careful not to have too much or too little, paint on the brush. Just enough. Plus painting with nail polish is a lot like the "dry on dry" painting technique that I love. Hahaha!

Its true what you said. In the end it has to be done/celebrated with a sincere feeling. Well, this is a rather subjective matter. But its important for do-ers to understand first why they do it. Hmm, like... I do it because I want to not that I have to. I do it because she's my Mum. And Mother's day is significant to Mothers. The day where they recall the first time they call themselves Mothers. The first time they carry a life in their womb. It's a wonderful and special moment. It's quite similar to Birthdays. I'm not saying its a must, but definitely a celebration that shouldn't result in obligation. I do agree with surprising gifts every now and then but I do also encourage celebration of Mother's day too. Most Mothers, though some won't admit it, do look forward to Mother's days. So yeah, these are my thoughts. Hehe.

Hahah!! Thank you, thank you! (or thank YOU for the influence XD). I thought it'll be hard to do things with sharp nails... I was surprise I find it easier to do some task with these nail shapes compared to my squoval ones. Hahaha! Actually, these were rather long. I've shorten it abit. But yes, thanks to the shape they still look long XD Hahahaha!

Yayyyyyyyy!!! Join in the gang! So glad to hear you like it!! Here's another 'secret', now that my nails are stiletto I feel like I can cosplay Killua!! XD Ohh, which version did you watch btw? I haven't watch finish the new ones though. OOhhh!! Feel free to drop me an email anytime! ^.^ Wish you a wonderful week too, hun! Almost weekend! :D

  14. Thank you so much! Well, I was thinking what to do and the words my Mum said jokingly when we order the same things, "Why you copy me?", kept popping in my head. So, I thought why not celebrate the similarities we have in common. ^.^ I'm so glad you like it too ♥

  15. Mainly these are fruits that can grow in our climat: apples, pears, cherries - in the northern part of county and apricots, peaches, pomegranates - in the southern. And certainly bananas and kiwi.

  16. Yeah I totally understand and agree with what you said. Mother's Day is a good thing afterall! But for me I have to work anyway so I can't go out with my mom for example. I just noticed it because a "friend" was judging me because I didn't buy my mom anything (she on the other hand bought her mom some last minute gifts -.-) Aaaanyways,
I am watching the 2011 version. Ohh yes, Killua <3 Love him! haha Definitely have to write to you (and answer all your comments). I'm just quite busy these days so it might take some time xD

  17. Hehe, thank you!! Awh, I'm glad to know you love the vibrant colours as I do too. Haha, actually I did make a slight mistake on the cup's handle. But it turns out to be a happy mistake, haha!! Good to hear you are loving it nonetheless :3

  18. Hi Lucy, thank you! Glad you enjoy reading them :) Haha!! Awhhh so great that you think so! I was worried I might mess up the carnations. ^.^

  19. Hahaha! I hope I haven't overdosed anyone with sweetness ;) Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments! The coffee mug is a lot easier to achieve than it looks. A little bit of observation and understanding of mug structure really helps ^.^
