Swatches & Review: Tip Top Nail Addict

Hey everyone! So I have finally finish swatching these and figured it was time to post them. Trying to cross out task in "to-do" list. Hehe! If you've been a long time reader here at this blog, you just might remember me mentioning of this South African nail polish brand, Tip Top Nails South Africa. Along the year, I've received a few more gifts from them but have yet to do proper swatching. One of my goals this year, is to get more swatching done. At least 70% of my stash, hahaha! Not sure how well that'd go. But there's hoping :P

Just a little bit more information on the company. They had two main ranges, Tip Top Nail Chic and Tip Top Nail Addict. However, Tip Top Nail Addict range will be discontinued as they want to focus on sales in the Tip Top Nail Chic line. One may still find some Tip Top Nail Addict range from Foschini Stores, but that's not certain. Not to worry, they will be releasing new lines and colours into their collections. So be sure to follow up their updates in their facebook page.

Tip Top Nail Addict Range

Tip Top Nail Addict, Créme Brulee

Lacqueerisa: Tip Top Nail Addict, Créme Brulee
Tip Top Nail Addict, Créme Brulee is a mustard yellow creme colour. One of my favourite kinds of yellow to wear. Although its slightly muted shade, still as bright and saturated against my skin's tone.

I love the formula. It glides on smoothly and the brush is soft enough to spread yet leaving no streaks. While it's quite opaque in two coats, from the picture above you can still see my nail line there. I think this is because my nails are thicker, hence a more visible nail line. Well, as long as it glides on smoothly,  I wouldn't mind doing the third coat if necessary ;)

This is without a doubt, one of my favourite shade in my stash. You probably have seen me using this shade quite a lot of time. I love wearing this on its own and using it in nail art or particularly using this to pair with my navy or blue shades. Gives a good contrast.

Tip Top Nail Addict, Urban Chic

Lacqueerisa: Tip Top Nail Addict, Urban Chic
Tip Top Nail Addict, Urban Chic. Love the name, love the shade! It feels so modern, stylish and you know, simply urban-ish. I can't put my finger to what exactly made me feel that way. Would it be too puzzling to just answer 'the colour'?

On the other hand, I think one may also describe this colour as dusty rose. A feminine yet sophisticated creme polish. I am loving the look of this shade against my skin tone. On my nails are two thin coats and that's all it takes for the colour to be opaque on nails.

Another doubtlessly beautiful colour to add into my stash. Real shame this line was discontinued. Hopefully, there'd be a similar colour to this in Tip Top Nail Chic line.

Tip Top Nail Addict, Fantasy

Tip Top Nail Addict, Fantasy. Despite its name.. I find this to be another urban-ish colour. I think it must be the slight grey hue in it that made it feel that way. Don't get me wrong though, I love this kind of shade. I'm really glad this colour came to me. I was looking around to add a shade like this to my stash. Loving it!

What a gorgeous lilac shade. Definitely a colour I'd be more than happy to add in my wardrobe too. It struck me last year that I almost don't have a lilac shirt hahaha! But I'd be looking for a cardigan I guess. I love cardigans! I don't even care if its so inappropriate for the weather here. Hahahaha!

*Ahems* Back on topic, it was really refreshing to see such colours on my nails that I wore it on both hands :P Again, very nice application experience. This polish glides on smoothly and opaque in two coats.

Tip Top Nail Addict, Sweet Chocolate

Now here's a polish that pretty much speaks for itself. Tip Top Nail Addict, Sweet Chocolate is a colour I would describe as a perfectly chocolate-y brown. After I swatched it, I had the opportunity to wear it out. My sister totally pointed out that I had chocolate on my nails! Hahahaha!

Lacqueerisa: Tip Top Nail Addict, Sweet Chocolate
Yeap, rich dark chocolate. Look how glossy that finish is! I guess its no surprise that this also applies just as smooth as the rest and totally opaque in two coats! ;)

Such a delicious looking shade. Seeing this again, sure makes me wanna have some chocolate coated marshmallows now. Or even a slice of chocolate moist cake. Very tempting!

Tip Top Nail Addict, Saddle Up!

Lacqueerisa: Tip Top Nail Addict, Saddle Up
Last but not least, Tip Top Nail Addict, Saddle Up. A very gorgeous, rich and beautiful fall shade. A polish consisting of both brown hues and red hues, packed with micro gold glitters that seem like little flecks of fire. One of the must have shades for fall in my opinion.

Lacqueerisa: Tip Top Nail Addict, Saddle Up
A true beauty on its own. While I'm not much fan of red. This is just the type that I will wear and not feel all awkward. Red, with a little bit of brown or at least, leaning on the orange-y side a little bit. I must say, the gold glitters really helped make this polish all the more wearable for me.

This colour came to live in just two thin coats. Like the rest I've swatched here, this too glides on smoothly and a bliss to apply. If anything, the little glitters caused this polish to be a little harder to remove as compared to the rest.

In conclusion, I have always enjoy using Tip Top nail polishes. They have very nice formula and with a soft brush, allows their polishes to apply nicely on nails. I'm all for smooth finishes. Also its good to know that their polishes are all very pigmented. As you can see, other than Créme Brulee, the rest has great coverage with just two thin coats. Because of strong pigmentation in darker/richer colours, I'd recommend putting on two coats of base coat before applying the colour. Haha, and due to my constant absence, I'm totally bombarding you with tons of pictures in this post!

Spring/Fall Nail Art

It's spring at the north and fall at the south. So why not a nail art that shows both eh? Hahaha! It just so happens, that the polishes swatched here are both suitable for Spring theme as well as Fall theme. The leaves were inspired by Mr.Candiipants fern fronds nail arts/tutorial. The flowers were inspired by lilac flowers but as you can see, I've stylized them. I have them scattered sparsely over a plain base, just to offer some diversity considering the leaves were rather compact together.

Oh!! I like the combo on my right hand better (bottom picture) hehe~ I guess its because I'm in the mood for lighter tones now. Sometimes I really wonder if the "seasons" got to me too or it was natural to want lighter colours in beginning of the year period. Although, we're very close to mid year now. I sure hope I'd be able to take advantage of the lighter season colours while it last!

Till the next post! Have a great weekend everyone! :)
