Vivid Roses

Good Morning! It is Monday once again and hopefully none of you are feeling the Monday's Blues! Recently, (about a month ago) Chelsea from Get Nailed posted her beautifully done Dr. Martens Floral Inspired roses here which completely blew me away at how stunning it is. And few days ago she has posted a tutorial on how she did the roses here - I was blown away the second time. (lol). That did it. I needed to try/attempt another rose manicure!

I had my first attempt at rose nail art here which I wasn't proud of. Everything was all over the place. I hadn't grasp the structure of rose well enough, plus, it was done using acrylics. So today, I'm happy to present to you, my successful rose nail art attempt using nail polishes which I'm satisfied with.

Dotted Bow and Graphic Squares

Hello and good afternoon! Sorry for the lack of updates, been rather busy with life for the past few days, so haven't really the time to blog or to paint my nails. But I do have two manis done up for Tip Top South Africa's nail art competition. You know, during the second week, I've realised I misunderstood the competition. It's going to be long one. Haha that's pretty challenging. I'm pretty sure everyone can still join in though missed out a few sections or themes. Perhaps I'd explain here.

The competition goes like this, there will be Four Sections. And in each sections there will be Four Different Themes. One Theme per week. So currently its Section 1 - Back to basics, using only Black, White and Silver polish. We're at week 4 already. The theme for week 1 was French Chic Rock which you can see my attempt here. And I will be showing you week 2 and week 3 attempts in this post. Do note: This competition is opened internationally. South African participants are required to use only Tip Top South Africa nail polishes, whereas international participants may use any brands. Head over to Tip Top South Africa Facebook page for information regarding week 4.

Happy New Year, 2013!!!

Hellllllloooooooooo!!!! And as the title mentioned, Happy New Year everyone! Hope you're all having a blessed start!

As promised, I'm here (and on time!) to show you all the New Year's Nails I've been pretty excited about. Actually, its New Year's Eves nails. Hahaha! So, usually on every New Year's Eve, I'd be attending  the Church's Watch Night Service and have my countdowns there. It's not really a party-party event. But rather a time to reflect back on God's blessings and how He has guide us throughout bitter moments and sweetest moments of the year. There is no doubt that last year was quite a roller-coaster ride and time literally flew by for most of us, if not all. And since things were really picking up towards the end of the year (and the influence of glittery madness around blogger world!) I can't help but feel all glittery for New Year's Eve!

Ho-Ho-Ho Christmas Nails!

Hello once again! I know I'm late again. So here's the 3rd Christmas nails of the 12 Christmas Nails Series! It was rather impromptu, as I only know in one of my series I wanted to attempt what I defined as Urban Christmas tree. I only had a rough idea in my mind and I've not been slacking exactly, but been pacing around trying to put the idea together so I can finally show something decent here.

A Touch of Blue

Good Afternoon! How are all of you feeling today? It is Monday and its exactly 36 days before Christmas arrives! I'm getting pretty excited, are you? From today onward, I'd be posting Christmas themed nails on every three days. Hopefully, I'd manage and be on time to post them but there's going to be so much to prepare for the season, while I'm excited to do this, I'm afraid of not being able to keep track (haha!). But at the end of it all, I do hope to be able to finish all 12 Christmas Themed Nails before Christmas comes knocking at my door! ;P

One of my favourite food!

it's Dinner time! And I'm definitely craving for some pumpkin goodness! Perhaps tomorrow? Heya All!!

Its near Halloween and dear Pumpkins are EVERYWHERE! Hahahaha!! It's just weird how Malaysians seems to be celebrating everything! ;) So while I'm not one who celebrates Halloween, I'm sure one who celebrates the goodness of Pumpkins! Pumpkin soups, pumpkin dishes, steamed pumpkins....*drools* So my nails today are well, Pumpkin inspired! When one has an orange as fabulous as Mango Tango, there's no use resisting pumpkins on nails! (i'm overusing the word 'pumpkins' lols)

The nail designs are inspired by Robin Moses' Pumpkin Patch. I liked that she made use of the different shapes of pumpkins. Hehehe. And I got the idea of utilizing flakies as 'lights' from Vicky of The Nail Artiste. They are both such amazing talented artist!

Mint Jeans Pocket

Hello all~ So I've finally got my pictures taken, edited and now, they are ready to be shown!! So today's NOTD is inspired by a really beautiful mint jeans shorts I saw on etsy. I was anxious actually, unsure if I could really carry out the idea that spring to my head when I saw the shorts. Its nothing too complicated though, just wanted to create pocket jeans look on my nails (which would somewhat be dashed border/framed nails?). And.... I'm satisfied with the results! Nah, I REALLY LOVE THIS! :D I think its great to wear this nail look on days when you want nail art on your nails but don't want them 'loud'.

And here's a quick look at the inspiration (too bad its sold, it wasn't when I saw it about two days ago?) :
Neat eh? Image does not belong to me, click to go to etsy seller.

And here are the nail polishes used and the faithful toothpick :

The Face Shop - GR501
Skin Food Nail Vita - BR609
Bloop - (name unknown) Its a shimmery white with subtle pink undertones.

By the way, is there any matte top coat that you know of that has a big brush? I find it hard to give a smooth application of matte top coat on my thumb's nail. =/

August Hauls

So, I went shopping yesterday. I must say, of all the shopping malls I've been to, Sunway Pyramid sure is my no.1 spot to go if I want to buy nail polishes (around Klang Valley). I've even spotted a couple of new nail polish brands available. Although, mostly are Korean brands; Holika Holika is one of the new beauty stores there - but no, I didn't grab any from there. I did try out their testers though, and find the application quite alright. I'm gonna apply the 3 days rule before I decide whether or not I'd buy one of the duochrome nail polishes there. Still its all good to see more choices available for nail polish consumers in Malaysia.

Okay, now to stay back in topic, I realised I've bought a lot of nail polishes for the past weeks of August! Which somewhat scares me, because I've never bought so many in a short time before! (haha!!) So looks like I'd be needing to control myself a little more from now on.

As you can see, some of them I've already used them in the previous nail challenges. But I've not swatch them. Only time will tell when I'd find the time to swatch all of these. Haha! Oh, I will be swatching a new polish from Etude House in my next post because I love it so much I just can't wait to share~!

Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge Day 9 - Red

Hurray for me! What a miracle! The skins seems to have somehow returned to normal. So here I am posting up for Day 9, themed Red! I don't usually wear reds, especially Red on its own. There are so many I know of who have the capability to pull red off so well; just not me. So for today's challenge I've decided to go with gradient red. I know tomorrow's gradient, but I just couldn't wait any longer. I've been aching to do gradients ever since I got the sponges. Haha! They were worth it and I love how simple it is to get an interesting look with gradients.

Sandwich, please?

A few days ago I found a very pretty lime green, its not too neon for my skin colour. Just right, I suppose. Its a nail polish by Bloop. Unfortunately, I do not know what the colour code is or the real name of the colour. It's not stated anywhere on the bottle. So, if any of you know what the name of this colour is, do feel free to drop me a comment below about the name. For the time being, I'd just refer to this colour as lime green.

The brush is big and round. Application wise, smooth, no streaks, and super-duper glossy! However, it do require the usage of icy cold water dipping to prevent the bubbles. Drying time, normal.

When I did the first coat, the first thing that came into my mind was "wow, this is going to be great for those sandwich nail art that I've been seeing around on the world wide web".

And that was exactly what I did for today's NOTD; A Green Lime Jelly Sandwich.

NOTD-Green Lime Jelly Sandwich

Ingredients:
Base Coat
Bloop Nail Polish
Sheng Ji #58 (review here)
Bowl of Icy Cold Water (optional)
Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Anti Chip Top Coat (or your favourite top coat)

Method:
1. Prepare nails with base coat. Let dry. (lol)
2. Start off with a good thin coat of Bloop Nail Polish. Let Dry.
3. Apply a coat of Sheng Ji #58 on every nails and allow drying time.
4. Apply another coat of Bloop Nail Polish onto the glitters. Allow polish to dry.
(If result is satisfactory, you may stop here. If not, feel free to repeat step 3 and 4).
5. Season your sandwich with a good layer of Sally Hansen's Top Coat. And you are done!

*Optonal: Dipped your hands into a bowl of icy cold water in between layers to speed up drying time and prevent bubblings.

So, how do you like the sandwich? I had fun executing it though, and looking forward to make more to see the different results it could bring. :D
