Almost White, A Christmas Nail Art!

Hey everyone! I do have a nail art to show you today. This is not too recent, but at least something new, for Christmas season this year. I hope I'll be able to find time to do more Christmas themed nail arts before the season's over. Or at least squeeze in one more on the eve? No promises though, cause I just came back from a hectic trip. No worries! I will update you with the nails done for the wedding ;)

Bubbles And A Turtle

Heyaass! I was going to post another floral mani today...but... Do you all know about Nailpolis? They have a few events organised and in each event members took part of, he/she gets a limited edition badge. Erm, if you play games... yeah.. it feels like playing games and earning titles, etc etc. Except, you won't receive a special power or additional stats when you get them :P (or maybe you do, who knows you might unlock new skills for trying out new mani ideas, hahahaha!) Don't get me wrong though. I like this idea. I think its such a fun concept and its one of the points that separates Nailpolis from other (nail) media platform.

Splattery Fun!

Hello everyone! I do apologise for things being so quiet around here for the past week. I have been slacking busy. Just few weeks back, I saw this beautiful polish on Kerruticles and I thought I would never find one here! Hahaha! Well, fortunately for me The Face Shop's Lovely Me:ex Yogurt nails along with few more polishes has arrived in local stores! I'm still hesitating to get the Lemon Candy Yogurt and Apple Mint Yogurt but I know it's only a matter of time before I cave in. Haha!! I did buy two on impulse. However, I'm only showing you one first, since I'm really excited about this one! ;)

I'm also submitting this for a nail art contest held by Marisa of Polished Obsession and Lakeisha of Refined & Polished with themes featuring colours of teals and pinks in simple nail arts. Not to forget the very exciting prizes which made it very irresistible to participate in hopes of winning them. Haha~ Well, I'm very sure there are tons of talented ladies participated already! I do regret the lateness in sharing with you such information. I've been busying myself with other matters in life but there are still two days left to join if you're interested. Please refer to their websites (here and here) for more information on how you may participate. Huge thank you to both, Marisa and Lakeisha for organising such wonderful contest! :)

Spring Geometric Prints

Heyyyy! I'm really excited to share this nail art with you! It is inspired by a shirt that I have. The shirt has this wonderful cool tone pastel prints paired together with some saturated colours. I have been wanting to do a nail art inspired by it for sometime but never really gotten to do it, until yesterday! :)

Feeling A Little Under The Weather

...well, sort of. I think?

Hi everyone! No, I'm not sick or anything. This nail colour combination is inspired by a wristlet I've received for Christmas. I love it. At first I thought of incorporating the design on the wristlet onto my nails, but I changed my mind, kept the colours though. ;P And these colours, they inspired or somehow possessed the talent of affecting my mood turning it a little grey. A little soft whisper of sadness lingering somewhere. Haha. :)

Shades of Triangles

Hey everyone! Today's nails are inspired by all the beautiful triangle pattern prints that's been around for quite sometime. I've been wanting to get try create those repetitive triangle patterns but didn't have the courage to do so. Every time the thought of doing it pops up, I simply brush/push it away with this very excuse that goes in my head : It's going to be tedious, you're going to lose patience. You're not going to get the lines straight anyway.

Well, my usual brush, although at size 0, was still too thick to attempt such designs. But ever since I modified one of my old nylon brush, I don't see why not! So, I finally sat down and gave it a go.

Glamorous Christmas

Hello!! I have here today the 6th look of 12 Christmas Nails Series (half more to go!) that I thought would be great for Christmas Eve Parties! So, for this look, I wanted to have a sparkling black base that I thought would go lovely together with black or purple dinner Christmas dress. Unfortunately, my holographic black is officially unusable. But I do have great toppers that has gorgeous shimmers! Also, this is my first ever successful tape manicure (haha!).

I was so inspired, ideas rushed in like running water! It took me awhile to finally decide on Richmond Birdwing Butterfly as the inspiration. But there were so many that I wanted to do! So, I guess you could expect to see more of butterfly inspired nail art on my blog in times to come! ;)

Blues, Teals & Everything Nice!

Heya all! This nail look is inspired by The Swatchaholic in her post dedicated for Mary and her mom, Voola. Well, I do not know who Mary is, nor who Voola is but I do know the pain of loosing the people you love and have a soft spot for anyone who has lost their love ones before. With that said, I'm dedicating this to both of them too ♥

Going Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness!

Hello everyone! October's the month for Breast Cancer Awareness and to show my support, I'd be showing you a simple NOTD. I really wanted to create something soft and subtle to portray the delicate beauty in ladies. I thought about the beautiful soft feather manicure I've been seeing around for the past few months but decided against that. And so I went with gradient borders. Cause I really like the idea of slightly coloured edges around the nails.

Now, who likes Cupcakes? I sure do!

Good Saturday Morning y'all!! Its a really lovely morning over here. Hope yours is just as lovely, or better! Today's notd is inspired by Cupcakes - somewhat. Well, this NOTD wasn't originally made for cupcakes. It was actually inspired by digital black and white noises. Carrying the noises inspiration with me, I went ahead stippling on my holographic black polish and they ended up looking like McFlurry Oreo. I paused and stared at it for quite awhile. No matter how I look at it, they don't look anything like digital black and white noises. The longer I stared, the more it look like Oreo. So, I go "what the heck, I'd just make this Oreo inspired!". Then, I recalled I wanted to do a cupcake inspired manicure in conjunction of "Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer" event. Well, don't you think Oreo Cupcakes sounds absolutely mouth watering? ;)

Stippling the Fall

Hello everyone. Today's nails are inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest. Its a lovely paper sculpture by Yuko Tadaka Keller. As well as a little vision I had in mind when I thought of what I wanna do for the nails. I wanted to create the look of lights dangling down using the stippling method. Initially, I've pick warm and cool colours to work with but I saw that Chalkboard Nails is holding a nail art contest and themed only either Warm Tones or Cool Tones nail designs and I thought I'd take it as a challenge to create a nail art inspired by only warm or cool tones. Honestly, I find it rather hard at first since I really loved the contrast between warm and cool palettes. I've kept to my original idea of inspiration and pick out some of the warm tones in my stash and got myself stippling.

It's rather unfortunate that the nail art contest is only open to US Residents only. I would have love to enter even for the sake of fun. But nah, I don't think mine will make the cut since its really simple. If you are a nail art enthusiast and from the US, please by all means, take this opportunity to participate in the Nail Art Contest. Who knows, you might be a winner! ;)

Anyway, for my nails I've started off with nude base and sponge on a little yellow covering only a quarter of my nails. Since I want the dots to be able to be as mini sized as possible I used a toothpick and go on started off with stippling white dots acting as a highlight and a rough guide for all my other colours to follow on. Little did I know that they turn out to look very suitable for fall! Almost winter-like too (thanks to the white haha!)

Celebrating Malaysia's 55th Years of Independence!

Today marks Malaysia's 55th Years of Independence! And I feel my patriotism kicking in! I thought for awhile how I should do my nails in conjunction of today's celebration. I knew I love how well the colours of Malaysia's Flag goes together. They are all so vibrant and lively! Since, I've never attempted a proper chevron nails, I went ahead and did one for this special day!

To all Malaysians out there :
Happy Independence Day!

Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge Day 15 - Anything!

Congratulations too all who participated in Makeup Savvy's 15 Days Nail Challenge! I would like to take this chance to thank Fee for organising this Challenge and welcoming all to join! It's been a fun journey, although I've only started since Day 3. Honestly, I wouldn't have been diligently posting up NOTDs if not for this Nail Challenge. So it's likely I'd go back to once a week NOTD or twice a week.

For today's challenge, we are free to attempt any designs and any methods that we wished to. Ever since I've done my first successful galaxy nails in the challenge, I knew I wanted to do another one but with a faded look to it; the ones that I'd love to recreate on shirts! In a way, I've long planned what I wanted to achieve for Day 15.

This time, I've tackled Galaxy Nails with sponging technique and subtle dottings (well, the stars). Prepared two coats of white base (Skin Food Nail Vita BW704) and sponged on desired colours for the Galaxy look. I've used Elianto Sparkling Diva Indigo Shine,  Elianto Sparkling Diva Persian Indigo, Revlon Pretty in Papaya, Nails Top Shop Mermaid, and Etude House COR 202. For the stars, I used the same white as the base and dotted with toothpicks. Topping the designs with my beloved Skin Food Nail Vita Crystal Pearl Top Coat and sealing the whole design with Konad's Top Coat.

And the results? I love them. Of course, they didn't come out 100% the way I wished they would, but I'm still glad with the end outcome. I've also manage to get some good orange hue in it this time! So, I am absolutely happy and so glad I've attempted this for today's challenge. I'd be keeping them on my nails for awhile! Hehe!! Ok, enough for the texts, pictures time!

Ahh, I really can't get enough of these! Gonna go and do these galaxies on my other hand now! Actually, I love galaxies so much now I want them on everything! Caps, shirts, tank tops, shoes, jeans? hahaha!! Anyway, hope you enjoyed them as much as I do! Its likely my blog will be silent for awhile since I don't have the heart to take these off any soon. Haha!!

Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge Day 11 - Metallic

Its Day 11 and themed Metallic. I can't help but imagine all those rich colours of medieval times clothes. All those vibrant and vivid colours. Just gorgeous. I've seen many other nail artist tackling wonderful triangle blocks (forgive me I'm not sure what its called) but have yet to do one myself. And today's theme seem just perfect for this nail art.

I decided to take the challenge and go freehand. And of course I used my left hand (haha!) I can get better control that way :P I love how they turned out, especially the colours. They matched so well together.

They really reminded me a lot of Bunting Flags. Mostly due to their triangular shapes, which I guess, contributed to the medieval-ness of it. A little wonky here and there but overall, I love them!

Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge Day 10 - Gradients!

Woohoo!! I am super excited for today's challenge since its regarding a new found love; gradients! I thought I'd do something challenging today like err overlaying gradients and such but I totally change my mind after seeing a Dip Dyed cardigan on FLIP AND STYLE.

*image does not belong to me. Please click to source.

Lovely isn't it? I would totally love to own that cardigan/sweater. I am so captivated by it I had to get that translated (or literally) onto my nails. I haven't quite get the hang of sponging gradients so the nails didn't quite turn out the way I had wanted them too. And without further ado, yet another simple-tastic gradient manicure!

Despite not turning out the way I intended it, I still love how these turned out! For this manicure I've used Elianto's Thistle which is a light pink, The Face Shop's PP402; the bright fuchsia and for the dark purple, I used BeauKiss's #09. To finish this manicure off, I've added Skin Food Nail Vita Crystal Pearl Top Coat which created very subtle glitter that I think goes perfectly well with this manicure. So there you go! My manicure for today's challenge. Hope you will like it as much as I do. Oh, today's Friday! How time flies! Have you planned what to do for the weekends? I think I will explore more with gradients for awhile. I'm hooked! :P

Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge Day 8 - Leopard

I didn't plan to do today's challenge. Mainly because I had recently changed my nail polish remover to a harsher one and my skin's been suffering from the harshness. They were pealing after yesterday's post. And pealing bad... I thought of posting up the picture to show you how bad it became, but decided against it. It looked like I was shedding palm skin...lol. Pealed off the few excess (that were peal-able) and spam on hand creams to hydrate it. It's better now as compared to this morning. Which is why I've decided to do today's challenge (or yesterday, since its already past midnight in Malaysia, oops!)

So, for today's leopard nails, I wanted to attempt a faded look which I guess, kinda failed. Haha! They ended up looking more like neon nails instead. I'd be needing a little more trials and errors to get better ones next time. Not for the time being, because I don't think my hands can take any more acetone. And with the haze over here is really not helping =/

Anyway, leopard nails!

NOTD - Leopard Nails
NOTD - Leopard Nails
NOTD - Leopard Nails
NOTD - Leopard Nails

These are my first attempt at leopard. I sponged (yeap, finally bought some sponges) my whole way through, thinking that might do the trick for the faded look. Perhaps they need a little more alterations. Honestly, if it's not for this nail challenge, I'd probably not attempt leopards at all - they don't suit my personality. They're fun doing though! And I'm glad I gave it a try anyway :)

If the conditions of my hands do improve tomorrow, I'd be more than happy to continue with the challenge. However, if they don't.. I'm giving them at least a day rest before touching acetone again.

  • BeauKiss - #09
  • Etude House (Matte) - #06
  • Skin Food Nail Vita - BW704
