Smitten By Pinks?

Hello!! I'm here and I'm going to pretend I've not been away for sometime. Haha! Wow, look at the time fly! Many things has happened, and among the "new" is my growing Pink Stuffs. Just for clarity sake, I don't and never have hated pink. I simply don't prefer them on me. Looking back, I don't have many pink memories. I do however, remember a few. I vividly remember picking out a pair of shoe with pink shoelaces during one of my pre-school days. I remembered I loved a pink hairband which I wore it almost every time, especially on occasions -- until I carelessly left it at a playground *sigh*. Trust me, I was sad for a period of time. At the age of 12, I spotted a pink three quartered sleeved turtle neck shirt and fell in love. It was probably the only pink shirt I had that I'll say I looked good in it every time I wore it. Hahaha! But since then, I haven't been able to identify much with pink hues.

To date, I have only two pink clothes in my closet. A tank top which so far, I've only wore once. And a saturated dark pink cardigan which I love and wear it when I need a pop of colour to my outfit. Recently, I've been adding more pinks, a few pink nail polishes and a pink luggage bag. *Sigh* The luggage bag, I was deceived under warm lighting. Tricked to think it has more yellow hue. When I saw the bag under natural daylight I felt a pang of regret. Comforted myself that at least it was a bargain (got it at half price). And at least I'll know that it is my bag when I have to collect it. (Let's do a quick survey, would you buy a pink luggage bag?) Looking at the bag now under natural artificial light, its not that bad. It's still a bold pink, fortunately, do lean on the warmer side and I'm actually liking it more and more. Lols! So I guess things didn't turn out that bad after all.

Bubbles And A Turtle

Heyaass! I was going to post another floral mani today...but... Do you all know about Nailpolis? They have a few events organised and in each event members took part of, he/she gets a limited edition badge. Erm, if you play games... yeah.. it feels like playing games and earning titles, etc etc. Except, you won't receive a special power or additional stats when you get them :P (or maybe you do, who knows you might unlock new skills for trying out new mani ideas, hahahaha!) Don't get me wrong though. I like this idea. I think its such a fun concept and its one of the points that separates Nailpolis from other (nail) media platform.

A Dramatic Valentines

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! It'd be a rather quick post today as its also Chap Goh Mei of the Chinese calendar and that's a celebration that marks the end of CNY celebration. Anyway, I don't exactly celebrate this day. But I'd love to be spending time with family just before the season's celebration is over. I'll be heading to Grandmother's home later on. That would also mean, in few minutes time this nail art will be taken off. Haha, Grandmother doesn't like me painting my nails. So I shan't upset her during this festive season. :P

I did initially wanted to attempt a crossbreed kind of nail art, since I heard.. Chap Goh Mei is sort of like the Chinese's Valentines. Since it's not every year these two dates coincides. But inspiration failed me. I just doodle around with nail polishes, and this was a happy result of that.

The Sweet Love

Good Morning! We are just a few days before Valentine's Day. I believe there is a possibility of love literally filling the air around us by now. Valentine's Day as how I know it, is a day many couples dedicate to celebrate their love for each other. Now, I've heard a few who do not agree on this V-day idea. One of the common reasoning they give is "I don't think love should only be celebrated for a day. It should be everyday, all year!".  Well, I think they are missing the point. It's not that couples (or anyone else) only celebrate 'Love' on Valentine's Day only. Rather than that, I think it's a day that gives the perfect excuse for both parties to just be excused of other activities and spend time with each other. Haha! Anyway, these days, Valentine's Day has become a day to celebrate 'Love' in general. So this year, I've been thinking of attempting at least one Valentine's Day nail art. Just as that thought crossed my mind, I received an invitation email from Jaimie Herrmann, Community Outreach Coordinator of Brilliant Earth to participate in a 'Create A Little Love Campaign', end of last month. Brilliant Earth is a company based in US that specializes in ethically sourced diamonds and engagement rings. If you plan on getting engage this year, you might want to take a look at this company :) Disclaimer: This is not a paid post nor sponsored or compensated in any way. But a post done out of love for nail art in contribution to 'Create A Little Love Campaign'.

So, 'Create A Little Love Campaign', is a movement hosted by Brilliant Earth to spread a little more love around the globe. What makes it interesting is that every participant gets to fully and freely express what love means to them in their own unique ways!

Paint Me Red

Hello! It's the 7th day of Chinese New Year, Happy Birthday Everyone! ;) And I couldn't be happier that I have another CNY appropriate nail art to show you. Today's nail art is inspired by an ang pau (red packet) I received during one of my visitations. The ang pau had a really adorable picture of boy/girl with just the right amount of gold and redness on them! :) My brother got one with the boy picture while my sister and I got the girl, for obvious reason. Lols!

Inspired by Crabtree & Evelyn

Beautiful Wednesday, yes? :) Today's nail art is inspired by Crabtree & Evelyn's beautiful packaging. If you've been reading the past few posts, you would have read that I had intentions to attempt nail arts inspired by them. This, however, was not the intended attempt. But Crabtree & Evelyn, Malaysia recently held this "Take a Picture" contest. Where participants have to take a photo of three single products in the most creative way. There will be 10 winners who get to win the 3 products they featured in their photo.

Celebrating The Year of the Blogger

Hello everyone! I'm so excited today to be able to tell you that I've been given the wonderful and priceless opportunity to participate in piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013!  Yayyy!! :D It's the first time I participate in something big! Participants of this year's blog fest are required to create nail art featuring 3 of piCture pOlish nail polishes which are sent to us. I sure felt my creativity mind being pushed to it's limits! Still, I am glad and happy with the results, I hope you'd like them too! But before I show you the nail art, these are the details of the challenge: -

Out of Frame

Hello! :) It finally rained yesterday and haze has cleared up quite a lot. Praise God for that! Today I'd be showing you a nail art I did last week and wore over the weekend. It is inspired by this photo. I love the setting of the photo as well as the colours and the atmosphere it gives - a little bit industrial and a little bit mysterious.

More Ice-Creams!

Hello! As much as I always seem to be complaining about Malaysia's hot hot hot weather, I'm super grateful for it too. Because, hey! It could have been worst :) And due to our hot and humid weather, one can never run out of reasons to dive for a good ice-cream treat! Recently I discovered Liquid Nitrogen Gas ice-creams while on a window shopping treat, and guess what? They are the best ice-creams I've ever tasted so far! The smooth texture is irresistible! So I've done two notd, (they are the same though..) inspired by ice-creams (not really).

Spring Geometric Prints

Heyyyy! I'm really excited to share this nail art with you! It is inspired by a shirt that I have. The shirt has this wonderful cool tone pastel prints paired together with some saturated colours. I have been wanting to do a nail art inspired by it for sometime but never really gotten to do it, until yesterday! :)

Vintage Christmas

Hey all! This is the 2nd NOTD for Christmas of my 12 Christmas Nail Design series. And though I've called it Vintage Christmas, its really a mix between vintage and retro. This design was inspired by this Retro Christmas Card I saw in Etsy (view it here) but the colours are really vintage.

Gradients On A Beautiful Cloudy Morning

Hello Readers! Sorry for the lack of updates. Was on a few days holiday and I've just finally found time to post this gradient nails I did on my short holiday. The colours are inspired by the colours of the outfit I put together--unfortunately, I didn't have much time to photograph, I didn't take any pictures of my outfit though (ah, pity). And on one of the days during my holiday, we went to the beach. Its been quite sometime since I last been to one. It was early and the weather was so good. Not too hot, not even cold. Just nice. And while I was busying myself photographing the beautiful scenery by the beach, I took the chance to photograph the gradient nails.

Woops, miss a little bit of clean ups there. Hopefully, the excuse that these were done under low lighting is acceptable :P And here's a quick view of the beach :

Ahahah, I couldn't resist putting up a picture of the waves 'crawling' onto the shore. Such a cute sight! I really had a great time at the beach there. Played Frisbee for the first time! But of course, nothing like the real game. Just a simple beginner's sort of play. It was really simple, but fun! It was a really beautiful morning we were early, and had the beach all to ourselves! Nothing's better than having a whole huge space to run about freely X)

And that concludes my post for today. Hope you readers have enjoy the simple gradient NOTD. Can't believe weekend is already here! Have a great weekend!

Going Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness!

Hello everyone! October's the month for Breast Cancer Awareness and to show my support, I'd be showing you a simple NOTD. I really wanted to create something soft and subtle to portray the delicate beauty in ladies. I thought about the beautiful soft feather manicure I've been seeing around for the past few months but decided against that. And so I went with gradient borders. Cause I really like the idea of slightly coloured edges around the nails.

Mint Jeans Pocket

Hello all~ So I've finally got my pictures taken, edited and now, they are ready to be shown!! So today's NOTD is inspired by a really beautiful mint jeans shorts I saw on etsy. I was anxious actually, unsure if I could really carry out the idea that spring to my head when I saw the shorts. Its nothing too complicated though, just wanted to create pocket jeans look on my nails (which would somewhat be dashed border/framed nails?). And.... I'm satisfied with the results! Nah, I REALLY LOVE THIS! :D I think its great to wear this nail look on days when you want nail art on your nails but don't want them 'loud'.

Neat eh? Image does not belong to me, click to go to etsy seller.

And here are the nail polishes used and the faithful toothpick :

The Face Shop - GR501
Skin Food Nail Vita - BR609
Bloop - (name unknown) Its a shimmery white with subtle pink undertones.

By the way, is there any matte top coat that you know of that has a big brush? I find it hard to give a smooth application of matte top coat on my thumb's nail. =/

Into the Tropical

Good Morning! Today's NOTD was kinda impromptu. Well, I only knew what colours I wanted to use and I know I want to blend them together in gradient form - which is what I went on doing. But after I've done my gradients I felt like it needed something more but lack of inspiration on what would be best on this nails, I debated between drawing simple kid-like swirls and dotting. Finally decided that I'd use my stamping plate which have been sitting around unused for all this time. I stamped on a palm tree looking leaves from Konad Stamping Plate M83 with The Face Shop WH002. And the nails ended up looking a lot like summer nails. Haha!

Just A Little Grey

Good Morning everyone! Its a cloudy morning here so I'm feeling a little grey. Nah, not in the bad way, but those quiet wonderful mornings sort of grey feeling. Unfortunately, it isn't as chilly as I hoped. Its still hot, despite the clouds and I'm sweating right after bath. Yeap, crazy weather. Alright, back to topic. Just simple grey gradient nails to share. The colours are inspired by a clock I saw in etsy.

I have to show you the thumb. I love how the gradient turn out here ♥

Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge Day 15 - Anything!

Congratulations too all who participated in Makeup Savvy's 15 Days Nail Challenge! I would like to take this chance to thank Fee for organising this Challenge and welcoming all to join! It's been a fun journey, although I've only started since Day 3. Honestly, I wouldn't have been diligently posting up NOTDs if not for this Nail Challenge. So it's likely I'd go back to once a week NOTD or twice a week.

For today's challenge, we are free to attempt any designs and any methods that we wished to. Ever since I've done my first successful galaxy nails in the challenge, I knew I wanted to do another one but with a faded look to it; the ones that I'd love to recreate on shirts! In a way, I've long planned what I wanted to achieve for Day 15.

This time, I've tackled Galaxy Nails with sponging technique and subtle dottings (well, the stars). Prepared two coats of white base (Skin Food Nail Vita BW704) and sponged on desired colours for the Galaxy look. I've used Elianto Sparkling Diva Indigo Shine,  Elianto Sparkling Diva Persian Indigo, Revlon Pretty in Papaya, Nails Top Shop Mermaid, and Etude House COR 202. For the stars, I used the same white as the base and dotted with toothpicks. Topping the designs with my beloved Skin Food Nail Vita Crystal Pearl Top Coat and sealing the whole design with Konad's Top Coat.

And the results? I love them. Of course, they didn't come out 100% the way I wished they would, but I'm still glad with the end outcome. I've also manage to get some good orange hue in it this time! So, I am absolutely happy and so glad I've attempted this for today's challenge. I'd be keeping them on my nails for awhile! Hehe!! Ok, enough for the texts, pictures time!

Ahh, I really can't get enough of these! Gonna go and do these galaxies on my other hand now! Actually, I love galaxies so much now I want them on everything! Caps, shirts, tank tops, shoes, jeans? hahaha!! Anyway, hope you enjoyed them as much as I do! Its likely my blog will be silent for awhile since I don't have the heart to take these off any soon. Haha!!

Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge Day 14 - Dots

Dots, dots, dots! One of the most challenging nail art to attempt, in my opinion. Simply because of its simplicity that I often find myself asking, "How can I make them a little more unique?" - and more often than not, I hit a dead end.

While wondering about the house and internet for inspirations, I came upon this lovely box which is a mooncake box that's in my house. That's one thing about mooncakes, they always come in pretty boxes! So I kept a lot, didn't have the heart to throw any away (they are thick too!) And here's the picture of it which I have drawn my inspiration from :

And the nails! :

I am liking how this manicure turned out. A little bit more of randomness to add to my personality! The whole look reminds me Chinese New Year though, haha!!

First I put on a layer of yellow (Etude House COR202), and sponge on Revlon's Pretty in Papaya, Top Shop Nails' Country Bumpkin, Skin Food Pedicure Sparkle #10 as well as a little bit of Etude House COR 202 to add in a little bit more of yellow. And then for the fun part, dotting the whites! I used Skin Food Nail Vita BW704 for the white dots finishing with Konad's Top Coat.

And that is all for today! Tomorrow marks the 15th day of the nail challenge. The theme is "Anything", its still not too late should any of you wishes to join in as well!
