Urgh, the Unsightly Yellow Nails

Hello everyone. My nails been looking sad apparently my base coat isn't preventing doing a good job in preventing nails from staining like its suppose to. Its sad to see my nails have been stained pretty bad, or very bad (as how I'd put it). Because of that, I went on a hunt for a different base coat - at the very least, to find one that is able to prevent further staining (since I can't part with nail polish at the moment). Also the nails are really embarrassing to go out with, with its degree of yellowness. So after browsing through the internet, I've decided to try out Rimmel London's Whitener base coat - it claims to prevent discolouration. Anyway, I am taking this chance to mask my yellow nails as while waiting for them to grow out also to see if this base coat do prevents discolourations.

Warning: Really ugly/yucky yellow nails ahead!

NOTD - The Odd and Awkward

This post was suppose to be just a simple swatch and review post of Nails - Country Bumpkin by Top Shop.

NOTD - The Odd and Awkward

Here's what happened. I was swatching Country Bumpkin because I thought I've been using it pretty often but have yet to provide a swatch on it.

A few words about the polish first, I do adore the nail polishes by TOPSHOP. The brush although pretty small its flat and has a wide coverage. All those combining with the awesomely smooth nail polish formula provides such a wonderful experience in applying the polish. They are about 9ml per bottle. Its rather pricey (MYR 29.00 ?) but hey, I think its worth it.

So what happened? If you noticed in the above picture, I kinda messed up the application a little bit, and I thought I should redo it. But, I've swatched this before the Mermaid and I didn't want to take it off. Then I thought I'd just do it on my right hand. But, on my right hand's ring finger, lays a painstakingly freehand rose which was done in an attempt to create another "Grey and Mustard" nails theme (which only the rose succeeded). I couldn't bring myself to wash it away....

So, I painted on Country Bumpkin alongside with the rose. This is a better version of two coats of Country Bumpkin. And after much debate, I decided to turn it into a NOTD instead of leaving the flower wasted because I couldn't come up with a combination to match the rose. So, why not clash it good? That's when I added strips with my trusty dotting tools.

NOTD - The Odd and Awkward
There you go! The Odd and Awkward. Do note though, the irregular strips are intentional. Because the odd one is the Yellow Rose and the awkward ones are the awkwardly arranged together strips and colour combos. (hahaha!!)

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm really liking this NOTD. Something to humour me throughout the day~!

NOTD - Dots & Dashes

Hello everyone!

I have been wanting to create a nail look of gray (grey?) and mustard (muted yellow?) colours. I considered doing the fish braids but....kinda didn't want to either because I've attempted it before. I like trying new styles. In the end, I've settled with this pattern. Its a pattern inspired by a scarf I saw online (its rather unfortunate, that I've forgot to save the link therefore I can't show you guys the scarf).

Okay, pictures time!

Its a very simple nail art; just using the dotting tool. If you don't have one, you can use various other tools like bobby pins (those with rounded edge), back of a needle pin or toothpicks.

So what do you guys think about this look? Well, I think its okay-ish for me. I'm not head over heels with this outcome. And because of that, I might come out with another grey and mustard themed nails again when I get better inspirations. Before that, I'd be doing a bunch of reviews and swatch over a few nail polishes I've bought today! Anticipate it! :D

Have a Happy Weekend!

Edit: I've actually grown to really love this look! and since its not exactly "old" I've decided to submit this as an entry to a contest held by The Lacquerologist in conjunction with her 6 months blogiversary!
