Happy Chinese New Year!

Hey guys! I'm kind of squeezing this post here just before I have a dear friend to guest post later on. Hehe. Phew! We're actually in the 4th day of CNY and I haven't been able to get anything posted until now! I was hoping to get this up on the first day, but with all the visitations and reunions my energy was completely drained. I'm not complaining though, I had a fun time catching up and spending time with families and loved ones! ^.^ Hope you don't mind :) I guess it can't be helped that I didn't manage to post any CNY inspired nail art before the festival set in. But it goes on for 15 days.. so I still have time to squeeze in maybe one more nail art before the celebration is over.

Essence Nail Colour 3, Midnight Date

Hello! I have something simple today but still as lovely as ever! This was one of my untrieds, but I knew just how amazing it is. I stumbled upon a matte combination of blue flakies over a dark polish that was done by Erika of Chloe's Nails and was blown away by it. I went on a search for affordable blue flakies, and my search ends when I found this Essence Nail Colour 3, Midnight Date.

What a wonderful surprise! :D And just a couple of days ago I've finally received this goodie! - yay!

The All Different Spots

Hello fellow readers! How was your weekend? Hope you had a blast if not a relaxing one! I'd be sharing with you about different spots today. Sure, you might ask "err, aren't these all the same kind?" well, yes. But hey, look a little deeper. There's hardly any alike one another. Each one of them uniquely different. I'm sure most of us can relate to this. No matter how similar we are to each other, there's going to be something that makes us different. (I do give exceptions to identical twins). And this makes the world a better place - oh you know, there's variety so we won't get too bored with one another.

Ahaha! nah, while that's true (somewhat) I don't intend on talking about heavy (seemingly heavy) topic. I like my blog to be light hearted and cheery. To tell you the truth, today's nails were something done out of randomness. I was wondering what to do on my nails and grabbed two bottles of polish which turns one had a big brush, the other a very narrow brush. Painted a good two coats of base colour and using the narrow brush to dot on the spots. Of course I did wonder if I should do a uniform one, and went "bah, why should these spots be so confined? There you go free movements for all of you! But in a certain confined space". I couldn't help it. I love them so much that I only want them to remain on my nails and within the closed walls of the nails.

Ohh, I do luv denim (2)

A very Chilly Day to you all :D I'm so glad today's a really chilly day. You can say I'm one who prefers chilly weather than hot ones - if you haven't guessed the reason, its because I get to yearn for Peppermint Hot Chocolate. Love that drink! Its just too bad drinks like this isn't so available around. Though I yearn them, I can't quite feed the craving. Let's just hope there's plenty when December comes :)

To continue my love for denims, I have another denim nails to show. Can't put a good painted navy base to waste now, can I? ;P So for this Bleached Denim II look, I've used Saran/cling wrap technique.Topping off with a matte top coat (unfortunately, you can see brush drags there) I honestly hadn't quite notice the dragging until I viewed the pictures on computer. =/

So how do you think they turn out? I love the thumb the best. It was the first one done and the one with the best denim looking outcome. I dot on two antique silver on the denim to create buttons but... yeah you could see that they were too close together. I did like the effect achieve on the ring finger which  is why I decided to just let it be and improve on future tries. Well, at the very least, now I know what don't work. :)

Ohh, I do Luv Denim! ♥

Good morning all of you! Let's see a show of hands of all those who share the same love for denims! *raises both hands* lol. Okay, about a week ago another gift prize from Tip Top Nails South Africa arrived on my doorstep! And there's a lot of goodies in it - what a sweet surprise! I'd talk more about it in the coming days. This is going to be quite a long post... hahaha!

Makeup Savvy Nail Challenge Day 8 - Leopard

I didn't plan to do today's challenge. Mainly because I had recently changed my nail polish remover to a harsher one and my skin's been suffering from the harshness. They were pealing after yesterday's post. And pealing bad... I thought of posting up the picture to show you how bad it became, but decided against it. It looked like I was shedding palm skin...lol. Pealed off the few excess (that were peal-able) and spam on hand creams to hydrate it. It's better now as compared to this morning. Which is why I've decided to do today's challenge (or yesterday, since its already past midnight in Malaysia, oops!)

So, for today's leopard nails, I wanted to attempt a faded look which I guess, kinda failed. Haha! They ended up looking more like neon nails instead. I'd be needing a little more trials and errors to get better ones next time. Not for the time being, because I don't think my hands can take any more acetone. And with the haze over here is really not helping =/

Anyway, leopard nails!

These are my first attempt at leopard. I sponged (yeap, finally bought some sponges) my whole way through, thinking that might do the trick for the faded look. Perhaps they need a little more alterations. Honestly, if it's not for this nail challenge, I'd probably not attempt leopards at all - they don't suit my personality. They're fun doing though! And I'm glad I gave it a try anyway :)

If the conditions of my hands do improve tomorrow, I'd be more than happy to continue with the challenge. However, if they don't.. I'm giving them at least a day rest before touching acetone again.

  • BeauKiss - #09

Sandy Glitters

I'll be showing you guys these two lovely Sandy Glitters by BeauKiss which I've purchased sometime ago. Bought these two colours because I really love them together. And they reminds me of Christmas! :D

Sandy Glitters BeauKiss 02
Sandy Glitters BeauKiss 02
Sandy Glitters BeauKiss 02
BeauKiss 02 is a really beautiful wintery light blue sandy glitter. Its a rather small bottle and only 9ml. If I did not remember wrongly its above MYR 10.00. I can't give the exact price since I've forgotten how much each of these cost. The brush is medium and soft and allows  you to have maximum coverage. The solution is quite thick. Good to go at 1 coat but feel free to go two coats if necessary.

Okay, I had no idea that their colour codes were that similar. Haha! Just found that out today. Anyway, BeauKiss 20 is a really beautiful glittery cherry red. Its pretty hard to capture but it do have a slight orange tinge to it. Good to go at 1 coat, also feel free to use two coats if you want.

Here's a quick comparison between matte and gloss topcoats:

NOTD - Acid Wash Denim (Alternative)

I stumbled into this nail art tutorial about acid wash denim about a month ago when I felt like having denim effect on my nails. I have been thinking of trying different colours for this style just to see how it'll look like. Here you go:

Acid Wash Nail Art

Well, I didn't know how I feel about them initially. As time passes, wow, I really love them! I had a pretty hard time trying to figure out what I should name this look. But decided that I should just stick to what "style" I adapted it from. I have no idea what it looks like, so I asked my brother to see what this look reminded him of and he said "Rubber Balls" (you know, those that you get from slot machines). I kinda agree. Although, I thought they looked like dinosaur eggs at first but decided against it after I googled dinosaur egg pictures and....they looked nothing like dinosaur eggs (darn!). What does this look reminds you of?

Alright, below is the tutorial link which I followed and also other pictures of my nails:

The tutorial

Nail polishes used from left:
 TheFaceShop (YL701)
Essence (Let's get lost)
Nails Topshop (Country Bumpkin)

I created this look by using TheFaceShop YL701- two coats. Followed by a coat of Nails Topshop's Country Bumpkin and a coat of Essence Let's Get Lost. Finishing off with Inglot's Matte Top Coat.

What I really like about this technique is that it doesn't matter if the colours are not evenly spread out. Oh, do keep in mind to allow each colour layer to dry completely before applying a new layer on top.
