Illustrated Flowers

Hello! It's been a stressful week. But I had a splendid weekend! Got myself a few more China Glaze polishes - 3 to be exact. Hahahaha! Sales always makes one splurge :P

For a few days, I was having trouble deciding on which nail art to do. On one of my happy trips to the bathroom, I found my inspiration there. Hahaha! It never fails to amaze me where we find/get inspirations.

Pretty random, eh? I was inspired by my bath scrub. Hahahha! But it is something I haven't done before and it sure looks simple to do which is just what I needed during busy times.

And this is the outcome, on my third try. The first, no doubt was so unsuccessful or just didn't have the look I was going for. My second try was successful as well, but topcoat completely ruined it. There were a lot of drag marks. I wanted the watercolour look, which I succeeded using nail polish thinner to dilute it but I am suspecting it is what caused the drag marks too. Then I had what Gru would refer as a light bulb and decided to use sheer and jelly polishes to achieve what I want. Hahahaha! ;)

Personally, I prefer the outcome on my second try (before the smears happened). But too bad I don't have pictures of it to show you. Though execution wise, it was much better planned out at this third attempt. So that is good, right? Hahaha!!!

Initially I wanted to include frames/borders into this nail art as well, but lazy bugs got to me and I had painted rather near the edge so I threw that thought out of the window. Oh-ho! They still look good, no?

My yellowish greens always tend to turn out neon-ish on the camera. In real person, they aren't that bright at all. They are bright, but not neon-bright. Anyway these were really easy to achieve and it's been awhile since I've done a tutorial. So if you have some sheer/jelly polishes that you're not sure what to do with them, this tutorial might give you an idea! (i hope! :p)

Leaves Tutorial

Simple Leaves Tutorial by Lacqueerisa

Leaves Tutorial Step by Step:
*extra tip, you might wanna do with your nails facing you. It's much easier that way.

1. Start with a white base (of course, you're free to use any colours you wish as base... hhahah!)

2. Blob your black polish on a piece of junk paper. Using a tiny brush, paint a curve line across your nail diagonally. This will act as your branch.

3. Using the same brush, paint smaller curve lines branching out from the main branch. These will be the midrib of your leaves.

4. Choose your preferred jelly green polish and blob a little on the paper. Then use a slightly thicker brush (i used size 0), and starting from the tip, paint your leaf overlapping the black line.

5. Continue painting the rest of the leaves.

6. Topcoat your leaves and you are done!

Flower Tutorial

Flower Tutorial Step by Step:
*extra tip, you might wanna do with your nails facing you. It's much easier that way.

1. Prepare your nails with white base.

2. Using a tiny brush and black polish, paint a wide cup curve on your nails. Depending on how or where you want the flower to tilt, paint your curve accordingly.

3. Fill in your 'cup' with more short curve black lines varying in height to make it more interesting (or you can have them uniform as well. It's up to you).

4. Use a toothpick and dot black dots on each tip of the curves.

5. Paint a curvy stem for your flower. Now you have a nice 'skeleton' of the flower.

6. Bring out your sheer pink jelly polish (or any other desired sheer polish for the flowers). Using the brush readily in the bottle, take off as much polish as possible leaving just a small amount of polish on the brush and carefully paint over the flower 'skeleton'. Be careful not to paint out of the flower 'cup'.

7. Repeat Step 2 to Step 6 for your second flower. Tilting the flower a different direction. Topcoat your design and you're done! :)

Yeap! And this concludes my post for today. I hope you have liked the nail art as well as the tutorial. I would love feedback if you have any regarding my tutorials. I'm still exploring options and ways to make better tutorials. If you have gave this tutorial a try, feel free to show me a picture and/or include your link in the comments below :) Thank you! Here's to wishing you a great start of the week! ♥

Oh, I almost forgot! Here are the nail polishes used in this nail art:
