FIFA World Cup 2014 Nails

Hello everyone! :D How many of you watched/followed FIFA throughout the start till the end? I was quite busy so I only managed to watch the last few matches. It feels so quiet now that FIFA is over. So while the season is still lingering, I thought I'll do a quick post (but long hahaha!) and show you some nail arts I've done.

Semi Finals - Brazil vs Germany

Just want let you know, I'm not an avid Football fan. I don't know the players either but I am a FIFA fan, a mild one though. *Ahems* Anyway, I was really excited for the first semi-finals match between Brazil and Germany. Both are my all time favourites! But because this year's FIFA was held in Brazil, I really wanted Brazil to win.

Brasil Nails (1st Semi Final) lacqueerisa.blogspot.com
Brazil became one of my favourites ever since the match I saw back in FIFA 2002. I will never forget that beautiful scene where every Brazil players gathered in a large circle, giving thanks to God after winning the world cup. That image stuck, and I want them to win every FIFA after that. Hahaha! Though they didn't win this year's hopefully they'd make a great come back in the next FIFA World Cup :) Nail art is inspired by Brazil's Flag.

Germany Nails (1st Semi Final) lacqueerisa.blogspot.com
How I became a fan of Germany for FIFA was because of Oliver Kahn. I was amazed by his achievement in FIFA 2002. Ever since then I held high expectations for goal keepers from Germany team. Haha!! XD Coming back to FIFA 2014, Germany, you did absolutely well in this semi-final match and deserve to win! I am happy for you :) For the nail art, it is inspired by their 2014 Home Jersey. I love the colour combos, the pattterns and the contrasts! Especially, the white and black, hmm.. I can't explain but I love love love it! Hahaha!

Semi Finals - Argentina vs Netherlands

Lol, though I had ideas in my head I didn't manage to get them done in time. I managed one for Netherlands, but I'm not too happy with it so I'm not showing them here. Hahaha! I really enjoyed watching the game between these two teams. It was intense! I rooted for Netherlands but they lost in penalty shoot out. I feel sad for them, but congratulations to Argentina for advancing to finals! :)

Third Place Play-Off - Brazil vs Netherlands

Brasil vs Netherlands Nails lacqueerisa.blogspot.com
Judging from previous matches, I had expected Netherlands to take third place yet still harboured hope for Brazil. Hmm.. I'm clueless when it comes to football's rules and all but the whole game felt rather meh.. =/

Brasil Nails (Third Place Play-Off) lacqueerisa.blogspot.com
My dear Brazil, I wished there weren't so many slips when you advance towards goal areas. Sadly, you were so near yet so far :( I guess 2014 just isn't the year for you. I'm still glad you made it this far, and will continue to support you in FIFA 2018! :) For the nails, I decided to keep it simple and as "sporty-look" as possible. Staying with Brazil's key colours, I threw in glitters hoping they'd perform better for this match (which I honestly think they did). The nails don't look as nice up close, but they look fantastic from afar :)

Netherlands Nails (Third Place Play-Off) lacqueerisa.blogspot.com
After watching the previous match, Argentina vs Netherlands, I thought I'd do a nail art incorporating their goal keeper's jersey colours as well. Congratulations to Netherlands for winning third place! :) You guys sure did well. Since I used glitters for Brazil's nail art, I decided to go full shimmers for Netherlands. 'Cause I don't have orange-y glitters >_<

FIFA World Cup 2014 Final - Argentina vs Germany

Argentina vs Germany Nails lacqueerisa.blogspot.com
Woot! Woot! Nothing like seeing two strong teams meeting each other in finals! Absolutely beautiful match between these two. I rooted for Germany, though the match reached a point where I don't mind at all if Argentina ended up winning as both teams gave their absolute all to win World Cup.

Argentina Nails (Finale) lacqueerisa.blogspot.com
For Argentina nails, I drew inspirations from their home jersey and from their flag. Started off with simple sky blue gradient, adding gold glitters to spice things up as this is for a match in finals. I was very tempted to add '10' as an accent, but decided not to as I prefer teams to play as teams. Just as I have for all the FIFA World Cup manis I did, uniformed nails to represent team spirit. I really love how this nail art turned out. My dearest Argentinian fans and readers, I hope you'll like this as much as I do :)

Germany Nails (Finale) lacqueerisa.blogspot.com
Champions of this year's FIFA 2014 World Cup, massive Congratulations, Germany! So, so proud of you guys! As I already had one inspired by jersey, I thought I'll include the flag for finals. And of course, with glitters too! Okay, the flag looks upside down here, but I had in mind for this nail art to have the flag facing the right way up when one lifts their hands up in the air. Which I did, when they scored a goal!! Woot! Woot! A little bit of white and red (gradient red, though its not obvious in photos) as a link to their jerseys.

  1. Whooot whooot!
FIFA is over and I'm like "Ok, what am I going to do now" xD It's not quite yet in Germany, people kept celebrating until morning and will continue tomorrow when the boys arrive in Berlin.

I love your semi final nail arts so much! I think it's just perfect, how neat you've worked on the brazilian flag and the black border on the german one. It's perfect and makes me even more sad that the FIFA is over now and I can't wear it anymore :(

But I can probably wear something like your second Brazil desig. It's very creative and wearable at any time. Definitely achieved that sporty look dear! ^.^
As for the Netherland design I admit that I had to take a second look until I've recognize everything xD Great that you've managed to include so much into this design. I must say though that I'm not a fan of the team at all, I don't even like their coach (he's actually the worse I think O_o) Nevertheless, I enjoy looking at your beautiful nails, dear! ^_^

And the final. Goshh it was so intense. Argentina did an amazing job. As for the match I think both teams were equally good, but taking a look at the whole tournament I think Germany was the better team. They don't have one superstar like Neymar (who's such a cutie btw haha) or Messi but they just work well together as a team and I like that spirit. xD Well, maybe I'm just being biased haha. But did you see Schweinsteiger's face coverd in blood? O___O And he still continued to play! Unbelieveable.
As for your nails Argentina wins! I just love everything about this design, the pretty blue, the halfmoon, the glitter <3 Sooo beautiful! I also like the Germany one but the jersey inspired one is still my fav xD I just have a thing for borders these days LOL

Oh and the FIFA 2002 was the first one I remember, even though not all too clearly *____* It was probably because it was held in Asia that I got interested in the whole thing, usually I don't pay too much attention to those events (and I was too young back then). Kahn is still one of the best players in my opinion but we were lucky to have Manuel Neuer now who is also very very good. Personally I like Neuer more than Kahn since he seems more friendly and well, he does look handsome x3
Ok, before this comments becomes a novel I'll stop here haha Have a wonderful week dear <3 ^_^

  2. OMG. Your nails are fantastic. I've watched the World Cup, not each play, but does when Germany and Holland played :), they are my favorite teams. I was super glad that Germany won! Their for my favorite mani of yours is the first one with the German flag, that came out unique and very neat. But all of the other ones are great too!

  3. All those nail arts look awesome!
Of course here in the Netherlands, we're still a bit bummed that the Netherlands didn't win. But at least they played good and their coach did his job well.
I didn't really watch many of the plays, but I did dislike the match between Germany and Brazil, just because Germany defeated them with 7-1. It kinda came across as rather unfriendly (as opposed to keeping it at 3-1 or something), but I guess I just don't understand football XD

You did tons of super awesome nail art!! I really like your Germany design, it's very clean an sharp so it looks so cool!! Adore the brazil design, the glitter looks great there. But you made all of the flags look very interesting, I very much commend you!! :D you definitely know much more about football than me ;)

Wow, all of these manis look fantastic! I love how you did one country on each hand for the matches! Your interpretations of the colors/designs of the countries are spot on. :) I don't watch football, but a friend insisted on hosting a viewing party for the final match and was offering food, so we went along of course. Can't pass up free food. :)

  8. Hahaha!! It's been awhile since FIFA now, are they still celebrating?

Aww, thank you so much! I think those are my favs too. And the finals ones. Hahahah!! Glad to know the second Brazil nails weren't such a fail. XD Hmm, as I didn't watched from the start till end.. I can't comment much. But at least they put up good fight. XD Most of the time I think they play it quite safe. And based on what I saw, I also thought their ball handling skills were quite good. :) I'll give them that ;D

Oh the final!! Yeahhh I loved it! True, I agree that Germany has always played well as a team. Gotta give them that. I did!! Omgosh! I was like, pooor fella! He kept getting bashed (it seems so) but yes, almost like ANIME! I mean, the spirit to keep going. Such sportsmanship ♥! I think I loved Germany Team a little more after that.. Ahh, and his efforts were not in vain as they take Championship! Woohoooo!!! ;D

hehe, Argentina team had one of the nicest jerseys with much elements to play with for nail art. Hehe, but I like them both and do favoured the one with borders more. I am having a thing for borders too, something about them so "design-ish" XD I think you know what I mean.. Hehehe!

OOhhhh! I think 2002 was when I started watching too. Probably because I was in morning class then, had the afternoon free to watch. Hahahaha! And yeah, old enough to actually understand some. As for Neuer vs Kahn, hmm, since I did not watch from start to end, I can't say for sure. But I seem to like the thought that Germany are producing top-notch goal-keepers. I hope the legacy stays with them ;) Hehe, thank you so much again for your comments, I really enjoy reading them XD

  9. Thank you so much, Andrea! Hehehe, yay for the Germany team~! :D Hahaha! That's one of my favourite too. And while attempting a few of these, I noticed Adidas jerseys had more interesting designs going on. Wish Nike ones had more going on as well.. hahaha! I just never noticed that before. :P But anyways, I'm so glad to hear you like them ^.^ I totally thought I was going to just attempt two (hence more effort in brainstorming the first one, lols!).

  10. Ohh, well its given to feel a bit bummed. Being so near, gosh.. But yes, rejoice that team Netherlands did well! I really enjoyed the game they had with Argentina. So cool watching Robben go past 3 people. Whoohoo!

Hahaha, I think most were rather disappointed about GvsB game. Such is in tournament, that the better team will win. Hope Brazil will work on their weakness and come back stronger next FIFA :))

Hehe, and thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the nails :D

  11. Hhahaha Gillian!! Actually, I never expected I'd end up doing quite a few nail art.I thought I'll only be doing two?? Lols! Thank you! I'm glad you like them :D It was rather challenging brainstorming some, but hopefully it'll serve as experience and I'd be better for the next FIFA ;D

  12. Hahahaha!! Glad you love them! :D And thank you. Trueeee it was soo goood, I simply love it when the end games were epic! :D Lol, I heard the video game tournament was rather disappointing =/ Dota2 was it? Or maybe I guessed wrong :P

  13. Shh, I only tell you. Its my way to cheat. You know, whichever team wins, I'll just raise that hand ;D Hahahaha!! Thank you so much, Yun! Glad you are loving them ;) Hahaha!! True, I can't find a reason not to go once food is offered XD hahahhaah!! Trump card for any gatherings :P

  14. I was watching EVO. I think the Dota2 championships were the week after? I think... I only play fighting games and I'm not a part of the #PCMasterRace when it comes to playing games. I know a ton of people who just play Dota2 and LoL though.
