Selamat Hari Raya!

Hello! This is going to be a quick and short post to wish all my friends and readers who are celebrating:

Salam Aidilfitri! :D

For every raya, I looked forward to eat all those savoury Malay food. Ketupat, nasi impit, rendang, curry and beef. Such delicious food! This Hari Raya, I decided to do a simple nail art that's inspired by Ketupat. ;)

Yes, very simple nail art. Mostly are done with fish braid style mani. Except, I did from bottom up. To make them look a little more like ketupat, I did each "line" manually using my nail art brush to blend a little. The process is simple, start with a light base colour. Use a middle tone to paint the lines from bottom up. Then using the same middle tone, fill in the bars halfway and blend it with the light base colour. Choose a darker shade to draw the final lines.

For accents, I have orange to contrast with the greens. I'm sad the beauty of the glitters didn't show up that well in photos. But its gorgeous in person, and very very 'Raya' to me :) To back my theory on orange being a very Raya colour, I saw a family in orange on first day of Raya! XD Hahahha!! The father, the mother, the kids! Gosh, they were all so adorable.

I wasn't very sure what to do for the thumb, another fish braid? But as I lined them together, 'Gold' was what came into mind. Yeap, what is Raya without a splash of glittering gold, right? ;D

I must admit, I'm not knowledgeable about Malay food (other than savouring it). But I did a brief reading about Ketupat before posting. It was very interesting to learn that the ketupat foldings (criss-cross weaving of leaves) represented mistakes and sins humans make. The white rice inside, symbolizes purity after observing the month of Ramadhan. I think this makes the celebration of Raya a little more meaningful, don't you agree? :)

That's all for today. Have a very Blessed Raya my wonderful readers! ♥

Looks great!! The fish braids are perfect for this design and the shading is wonderful for the coconut leaves. Ps love the addition of the glitter, so pretty!! Coincidentally my aunt was teaching me how to make ketupat yesterday, they look really awesome (apparently not so awesome after a couple of days), I didn't master the art but give me more time and hopefully ill get there!! :P I think the hardest part of making them is starting it, it's quite fiddly but my aunt tells me to practice with ribbons. I'm definitely going to try cause they look so cool!! Anyway great design!! :D

  6. Thank you~! ♥ Hahahaha, did they lose their awesomeness due to discolouration or something? XD Doesn't matter what they look on the outside, as long as it taste good! Well, I'm very lenient when it comes to food. Good taste = good food. Simple :P Hahaha!! Oh yeah, now that I think about its shape.. I think you're right! But, I have faith in your talent and that you will master the art of folding them soon enough ^.^ Hehe!!
