Good morning all of you! Let's see a show of hands of all those who share the same love for denims! *raises both hands* lol. Okay, about a week ago another gift prize from Tip Top Nails South Africa arrived on my doorstep! And there's a lot of goodies in it - what a sweet surprise! I'd talk more about it in the coming days. This is going to be quite a long post... hahaha!
So in the lovely package that arrived, lays my very first twin polish! Well, more like a 2 in 1 kind of nail polish, named - I Luv Denim!
I'm not sure what are your reactions upon seeing this polish, but mine went something like "ohh soooo denim-ish. Wow, that's a lot of tiny-micro silver glitters. But, I wonder if...." - and I decided to give this a try.
My oh my. I honestly thought I wouldn't like it as much. But after laying them down on my nails, I fell in love! I've never seen any other matte polishes (yeah, this one has a beautiful, one of a kind matte finish) that applies as smoothly as this baby does! And it dries pretty fast! Instant satisfaction! I thought I wouldn't enjoy the silverish glitters in it, how wrong I was! This nail polish has quickly rank as one of my favourites of all time! The matte effect just drives me mad with love for them! They are also very pigmented. While I've used two thin coats for the light blue shade, the darker shade is totally good-to-go at just 1 coat. If you are in a rush and do not have the time to wait for nail polish to dry, may I suggest you give Tip Top Nails South Africa - I luv denim a try :)
I absolutely couldn't resist the thought of attempting a denim inspired manicure as a tribute to its wonderful name! I was inspired by bleached denim I found on etsy. (view it here).
Ta~dah! This how they turned out. Honestly, I would have added some whites in it (although not too sure if that'd ruin it or make it better, have yet to try). But Katy from Nailed It, is holding a nail art competition to celebrate her blog's 1st birthday!
Happy 1st Blog Birthday, Katy!!
The competition is open internationally with part of the regulation is to only use 2 bottles of polish and create a nail art. I thought I'd give it a try and challenge myself to only use two colours instead of 2 bottles. Hehe. Overall, I really love how the nails turn out. Feels good to have ideas that turned out better than what I anticipated :D So, yay to that! ♥
Both colours look really great! How did you get that neat acid washed effect??
ReplyDeleteYes they do! I still can't get over how wonderful these colours are!
DeleteI used a similar concept like drip nails, except using a toothpick to dot on some areas and dot & drag certain areas to create variations.
Wow, the dark blue one is definitely my favorite out of the two! I love duo polishes, they're so convenient and easy to store in makeup bags (not bulky at all!) for re-applications :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the nail art you created, it's GENIUS!! I would like to "steal" the look if you don't mind :p
I know right? So convenient, just like packing in pencils :3
DeleteFeel free to recreate the look :D So happy that this inspires you too :D
Manglaze polishes are VERY similar! You should give them a try :)
ReplyDeleteHi there! Perhaps I should check it out sometime :D Thanks for the info!
DeleteWow! What great colors. I'm obsessed with denim and indigo blue. I'm honored you were inspired by my bleached denim kitchen towel. So happy to read this and be featured here. Thanks a bunch!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! Xoxo
Hi Michele! Haha!! That puts us on the same boat! I've been pretty obsessed with denims and blues are always my favourite colour! It's my pleasure to be able to share great inspiration with others! You are indeed an inspiring artist! :D
DeleteThank you for your compliments and thank you so much for stopping by! :D
Great colors!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Indeed they are! Glad you enjoy them :D
