Hello! I have something simple today but still as lovely as ever! This was one of my untrieds, but I knew just how amazing it is. I stumbled upon a matte combination of blue flakies over a dark polish that was done by Erika of Chloe's Nails and was blown away by it. I went on a search for affordable blue flakies, and my search ends when I found this Essence Nail Colour 3, Midnight Date.
Midnight Date in general, is what everyone know as duopolish. I love these type of polishes because they are so easy to carry around, especially for travels. Midnight Date is the base colour and such a gorgeous shimmery navy blue too. It's a very pigmented, purplish blue with hints of red (may be seen under direct sunlight) and teal shimmers colour. My camera can't seem to capture the greenish part of this polish. On the nails are two thin coats.
Here's the layered effect, the flakies are called City That Never Sleeps. It has a sheer purple base with greenish-blue flakies and tiny glitter particles. What more can I say, so pretty! Two coats of flakies as well, they can be quite sparse. I did two coats for more depth (and more flakies, haha!).
After seeing Erika's matte version, I just had to matte them. And now I can't stop staring at them! I don't even know what nail art to do them with, they look so good on their own! I love shifting my hands just to see the colours of the flakies change from bluish to greenish. Oh, just in case you're wondering, I used Etude House Help My Finger Matte Top Coat.
Toodles for now! :)
That looks amazing! You're so right! I wish Erika was still posting, she always had amazing combos and ideas...

Hahaha!! I love the name you call them! I can hear Cinderella's Fairy Godmother singing! :) I do agree! They look pretty normal in the bottles, but when on the nails and layered together... sends polish sparkles up the skies!

Deletewow this is stunning, I am hoping to buy something like this by Revlon, I love the blue flakes. I haven't seen matte used before on glitter and you made that look great.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa! Ohh Revlon's Moon Candy collection, right? I wish I could get hold of that collection here. There are some that I'm eyeing, namely Orbit and Galactic but they are so similar.. Still catches my eyes though. Hahaha!! Thank you! I'm happy you love the look too! Though it was really the matte topcoat's magic *wink wink* ;D
