Heyyysss! You absolutely have to believe me when I say these have the best nail polish bottle shape ever! Haha!! Aesthetically though. I first saw/know about them when on Bethany's Blog - Beauty Junkie on a Budget specifically in this post and don't forget to check out her swatches here. Ever since then, I've been harassing all Etude House outlets that I frequent to on when only will these lovely products reach Malaysia. To be honest, I was quite put off when staffs has no idea what I was referring to. Shouldn't the staffs be more aware of what's coming? Or am I having a wrong presumption here? o.O
Anyway, on 1st April 2013 they finally launched Etude House Secret Recipe line here. Hahaha! I was ecstatic! Finally! But of course, being new and all they are normal priced - I'm reluctant to buy. As I know, they do frequently or at least once a while have attractive sales. I've decided to wait. Surprisingly, my wait wasn't as long as I thought. Soon they were having Buy 1 Free 1 sales! How awesome! These lovely Ice-Cream Nails are on sale too! I mean, seriously you almost never find a store that will extend such promotion to newly arrived products! Etude House, you're way too cool! I ♥ you!
Yes, I just have to stage them that way. After all, that's their selling point! Whoever that thought of designing the nail polish bottles this way for this line is a genius! Because I did want them so much based on how they look on the outside. Hahaha!
Etude House PP501 Blueberry (MYR12.90), is a creme finish pale lilac shade leaning on pink tones. While many others have streaky issue with this bottle, I did not. Application for me was smooth and covers perfectly in just two coats. Above pictures are without topcoat. I love this colour! I've been crazy about Lilac-pink tones lately and what joy it is to find one under the Sweet Recipe line. :D
Now for the Star of the Etude House Sweet Recipe Ice Cream Nails line....Mint Chocochip (MYR25.90)! This is the first polish I fell in love with after seeing it introduced in Bethany's blog - Beauty Junkie on a Budget. I was too excited to do this simple ruffian nails that I once again forgot to take it on it's own. My apologies. Anyway, it's a crelly mint shade base with large, medium and small sizes of brown hex glitters, medium sized green and copper hex glitters and medium square pink glitters. I think the mint shade falls just right on the border line of greenish and blueish shade. I honestly think they are both greenish and blueish, if that seems to make any sense. It took me 3 coats for opacity. The application process is tricky, especially trying to get the glitters to really look like chocolate chips in mint ice-creams. But the extra effort is worth it. I had an awesome time sporting this look while enjoying my actual real Chocolate Mint Ice-Cream over the weekend. ;P Oh the little pleasures in life!
A brief note on the packaging: While it's really cute to be bottled up in an ice-cream like bottle, the cone cap makes it rather difficult for gripping it almost slipped off my fingers at times. Otherwise, it's a really smart design. There are also details on the cone cap to mimic the actual cones. So, thumbs up for that.
Have a Chocolate-y Minty-ful Day ♥
*.* I want it so so bad! these bottles are extremely awesome! looks so yummy! gosh... and the polishes are amazing :D
ReplyDeleteThe bottles look so cute! And the colours look nice too, especially the mint one.
ReplyDeleteThose are the best bottles I have ever since. End of. I need that mint one. Over the summer I will be going to Etude House and going insane. Yeah... :)
ReplyDeleteThat was my exact reaction when I saw them on Beauty Junkie on a Budget blog! hahaha! They are amazing!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes, they do have many other attractive colours, but I did not get them (yet, maybe?) Lol. I did thought of getting the Apricot Candy previously, but the glitters aren't as fantastic. The mint in my opinion, is a must get for every nail polish lovers! It's way too similar with the real Chocolate Chip Mint Ice-Creams, thus a must get!! XD
ReplyDeleteI AGREE THE BEST, EVER! Hahahahahha!!! Do grab them! We'd just have to be extra careful while applying polish (only if you fall into clumsy category as me) to not let the cap accidentally slipped off the fingers. Hahaha! (Mine nearly did!) Anyway, yes go crazy! They have tons of other gorgeous shades! Yesss, you need that mint! Get it, get it!! It's the best of the four ice-cream shades with glitters! :D
ReplyDeleteOh! Don't forget the haul post! ;)
I totally want that mint polish! Those bottles are so cute! I love the design of Etude House polishes. <3 Suits you very well. :)
ReplyDeleteBlueberry reminds me of Essie's Go Ginza. :D
Thanks for linking me. x3 Hehe. I really like the pink and blue/green (Sweet Recipe) ones, but I'm loathe to wear them much because of how long it took me to get the glitter off. <.<;; I swear, three manicures later, I still had one tiny piece stuck to my nail. Lol. Love your swatches, as always.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, Disqus made some changes (I think) so I couldn't log in :'( Saw these beaus as you posted them and I wanted to leave a comment so bad >///<
ReplyDeleteWell, here I am now hehe
Yes. Genius is the right word.*clapping hands for whoever come up with the design* I saw them and I knew that I must own them sooner or later. Now reading your post definitely sooner ;)
Rather than saying someting specific about this post I want to tell you that you have one of the (if not THE) best reviews for polishes. I love how detailed they are. You show them with 2coats, with 3 coats, with top coats and without, you incorporate them with nail arts. Or the small things like here with the cone caps, that it can be a bit tricky. Those stuffs are really helpful for me when it comes to decide which polish I want and which not.
And honestly, I barely read through swatches posts but I enjoy reading yours everytime cause I know they're good (and I was never disappointed hhihi)
Thank you so much for that!
Btw you're so lucky to have Etude House in Malaysia. I can only order them online -.-"
:D Thank you!! Yeah, they are similar I guess, Go Ginza and Bluebery.. Hahaha, you totally should get it! It's definitely a must have polish for all nail polish lovers!
ReplyDeleteOh, my pleasure! Hahaha, I actually felt they were quite alright, compared to the times I tried removing Models Own's glitters! Those really stuck! Hahhahaha!!! You could try the PVA glue method or... piCture pOlish has recently produced a wonderful base coat specifically to wear glitter polish. Perhaps that could ease the removing process. :P
ReplyDeleteAw Anhy! Thank so much for always taking your time and reading through my posts! I truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! Your comment totally made my day! I'm still all smiles while typing this! I'm sure I would be every time I recall your comment ^.^
ReplyDeleteHahaha! yeah, Etude House sure makes me super grateful that I'm in Malaysia. xD hehe!! I can't wait to see what other surprises they'd have next :)
Those bottles are beyond cute!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree!! So darn unique and cheeky and well, GENIUS!!! Hahaha!! I love that their milk/pastel shades have a wonderful consistency when applied! And it finishes super glossy and smooth to touch!
ReplyDeleteI love blueberry, its such a lovely color but somehow I've never seen the creme range at stores in SG..!! I'm gonna drop by later and hopefully find some *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteI've got the Mint Chocochip one too and it's an absolutely dream -- lovely lovely color!! Glad to know you enjoyed yours too <3
p.s. 25.90 ringgit..!? Thats some whack pricing!!
Ah, they should be out pretty soon if not already. They're much recent compared to the ones with glitters. Hahaha, yeah. Killer price. But I did get it half price due to their promotion so it was alright. Otherwise, it's just overpriced =/
