Hello everyone! It is Halloween! So how many of you are dressing up and going for parties? I'd love to dress as pirate (Jack Sparrow, maybe?) or go as Tim Burton's Mad Hatter, or some cool anime character or a made up character, someday.. someday.. Hahahaha!! Well, that's how I see Halloween as, dressing up fun thingy - but that's not what Halloween is, right? So feel free to educate me about what Halloween is and perhaps next year, I will be able to come up with a look that's more Halloween appropriate.
I was almost going to skip this year's Halloween nail art due to lack of inspirations and with the increase rate of brutality and crimes, I didn't have the mood to do anything gory (not a fan of gory stuff to begin with). So instead of horror related, I wanted to just stick with something more fun.
My inspiration came from a post written by Brittany Watson Jepsen, about simple Printable Animal Mask. I thought it was really cute and the simple mask-do could also be great props for fun photography! But what immediate caught my eyes were the lovely clothes the kids were wearing! Hahaha! Sooo adorable ♥ :)
Inspired by the little girl's outfit, I changed the main element on the outfit and replaced it with pumpkin. Haha!! Though on the outfit was actually little scattered images of roosters, I was seeing pumpkins and knew right away that this is the direction of Halloween Nail Art I would love to do this year. A mix of fun and a little bit of something different.
To give this nail art a more Halloween feel, I took the inspiration from the black and white striped dowel modifying it to Black and White Candy Canes. Which I think would work seeing that treats are given out on Halloween. As for the rest of the nails, they were inspired by the boy's outfit. I think it matches well with the accent nails :)
And there you have it. My Halloween inspired nail art for this year. I do love this look very much, so I hope in some ways you have enjoyed it too :) Have a great Halloween, everyone! ♥
Tip Top Crème Brulee, Tip Top In The Navy!, Tip Top French Manicure White
Nail polishes used for accent nails (left to right):
Etude House Tint Mint, The Face Shop OR207, The Face Shop YL702
Sally Hansen Black Out, Chi Chi Bounce Him, Tip Top French Manicure White
Tools used: Toothpick
I think you have the perfect Halloween outfit ideas, basically Halloween is a fun dressing up thingy. Though I'm no expert, I've never been trick or treating before. I'm not a fan of gory stuff either (the reason I've been doing zero halloween nail art) but your look is really cute!! I actually really like the polka dot nails, the clash of the colours and the polka dots are really cute!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to dress up as Ariel from Little Mermaid!! But my abs are still hiding this Halloween hmm... ;p And I adore how you did something fun and cute instead of the usual spiders and blood stains, it's nice to have variations just like how it'll be boring if everyone dresses the same to a costume party.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm just crazy over the polka dot set, can you please do a tutorial on how you got the look pleeease? :D
Hahaha!! It's like I'm treating Halloween as some cosplaying event XD Or at least it seems to have evolve to that way.. Anyway, thank you! I'm glad you like the nail art! :D And yes it was surprising that the polka dots came out really well. I had a few failed attempts though, super glad it worked out in the end! ^.^
ReplyDeleteWhoa you will look fantastic!!! Thank you! So glad to know you're enjoying this look as well :D Haha, ohh the dots are easy! I just painted two coats of the mustard base, then paint half of the blue, and using the 'dry brush technique' sweep the brush left to right XD or right to left. Then I use a white polish and toothpick to create the center dots first. Working towards the right and then going back, finishing up the other side.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, I could also do a tutorial on that! :D
Cute mani! I personally like the fun side to halloween A LOT more then the gory side/dark/creepy side.... I'm totally all for silly fun and creative costumes!! I LOVE seeing some of the creative costumes kids & their parents come up with, especially group costumes :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks so cute! The two different designs go perfectly together, I love the design on your thumb! I never thought I'd say this, but I AM getting a little sick of the spider/bloodstain/ghost nail art :P
ReplyDeleteSo bad Halloween isn't popular here, in Poland...I'd love to spend that day in the USA one day;)
ReplyDeleteBut your mani's super great:) Love it!
I love this design too!!)) I'm not in a theme of blood and something like that so I'm with you!!)) And I think your Halloween nails are the one of the greatest I've seen this season!!
ReplyDeleteLove the design. Its so fun and different from regular Halloween-y mani :D
ReplyDeleteLovely manicure! It is original too :) I agree with you I don't like blood stuff, so I stick to haunted houses witches, bats, candy, and stuff like that. I hate horror that's based on violent murders, mutilations, and so on, because I hate violence fullstop. I think we can also have a non violent Halloween and have fun!
ReplyDeleteThis Halloween design is just so ...possitive, sheerful and that makes it so unique! love it!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I love your pumpkins and black/white candy canes! Thanks so much for doing a fun Halloween mani instead of a gory one. I've definitely seen enough of those.

Happy Halloween! These are so adorable!
ReplyDeleteQuite embarrassed to say I had never heard of that technique before...Thank you for passing it on!! <3
ReplyDeleteThank you! Haha yes, I'm seeing my nieces and nephews all dressed up and having so much fun! Especially the cute outfits put together by their lovely and talented Mom ♥ Would definitely love to experience that one day! :D *adds into to-do list*
ReplyDeleteHehe, thank you!! Yeah I thought so too when I saw the pictures. Their Mom (I think) did a great job in dressing the kids up :D I'm so glad to hear you like it. Hahaha! I glad to be able to offer something different :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, while I won't say its the same for Malaysia, here seem to embrace quite a lot of celebrations XD But I see it growing. Especially with parties or events or just for fun - for students to relief stress XD Anyway, yeapp! That makes the both of us! I'd love to experience Halloween in US too, one day :) And thank you! I'm glad you love it ♥
ReplyDeleteAww, that's such a lovely comment to receive! Thank you so much! I'm just glad to be able to offer a little different perspective :) And I'm glad you love them! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hahaha, yeah but not too different, I still have pumpkins XD a very popular Halloween depiction ;) Anyway, I'm glad you it sparked some fun! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's true! I'm of the same opinion too! Thank you, Nati! I'm glad you love the nail art :D Haha, I think I might try attempt some cute cartoonish ghost next year ;)

ReplyDeleteNever ever could I turn that girl's outfit into a mani *_* You're just too brilliant hun! And I love how you make some twists here and there and make it into something new. So pretty! Trick or Treat? Definitely a treat here! ^^
Oh em gee it's been forever since I dressed up for Halloween. I think the last time I was 16? O_o But I'd love to dress up too, doing some cosplays maybe haha
Hehe, thank you so much! I used a toothpick so the tiny details are easier to handle :D A very blessed day to you too, hun! ^.^
ReplyDeleteHaha!! I agree he has some of the best concept ideas! And thank you! I'm glad you like them ♥
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much! Glad you like them ♥
ReplyDeleteHahaha, well I think it was the colours that resembles pumpkins and the dowel just reminded me of Jack from Nightmare before Christmas so its like piecing here and there together. Thank you so much, hun! I'm so glad these turned out well, and many of you loving it brings me much more joy! :')
ReplyDeleteOhh hmm mine was 5 or 6 yrs old -.- sooo longggg. Unless I just count the year where I wore a yukata (not a real one, my sensei had a real one i just bought some clothe and tailor made one) when I was 16! Haha!! XD Definitely would love to go Japan one day, during summer! So I can wear yukata and maybe get a geta there and their pouch! Love those little bags! XD
And yesss cosplays!!! Arggh been wanting to do them forever, never had the guts to though *sighhh*
Ohhhh this is just adorable! I love everything of it! :D
ReplyDeleteAhh thank you so much! I'm so happy to hear you love them ^.^
